大龍國小創立於西元1896年（民國前16年），當時稱為台灣總督府國語學校第三附屬學校，西元1898年（民 國前14年）改稱為大龍峒公學校，民國30年（西元1941年）改稱為大宮國民學校，光復後民國34年10月改 稱大龍峒國民學校，派陳鍚福先生為第一任校長，經過幾番變革，於民國57年（西元1968年）8月1日正式 改稱台北市大同區大龍國民小學。民國70年9月奉令附設國民小學補習學校。民國71年6月正式制定校歌。 民國74年設立附屬幼稚園。
本校緊鄰台北市孔廟，每年教師節，台北市孔廟釋奠典禮的佾生，都由本校的學生擔任，是一項光榮的傳統。此外，本校亦鄰近大龍峒保安宮、陳悅記老師府、台北市兒童育樂中心、台北市立美術館、台北市立天文科學教育館、台北海 洋館，及士林官邸等，環境清幽，藝術人文氣息濃厚，又鄰近重慶北路高速公路交流道及捷運圓山站，交通往來方便。
西元1996年適逢本校創校一百週年，為慶祝百週年校慶，成立校慶籌備會，當年九月一日大龍國小校友會正式成立，為台北市第一個立案的國小校友會；十一月十二日校慶，當日前總統李登輝先生，前教育部長吳京先生，及當時現任總統陳水扁先生、台北市長馬英九先生等多位首長蒞臨指導。
近年來，大龍國小配合臺北市政府大龍峒文化園區發展計畫，準備進行校舍更新改建，並結合鄰近的臺北孔廟、大龍峒保安宮，進行「廟、學、宮」整體規劃，希望讓北大同地區軸線翻轉，帶動傳統社區邁向另一個全新的生命週期，讓大龍國小的學生擁有更完善、更優質的生活環境。

Established in 1896, Dalong Elementary School, rich
in tradition and culture, is in the neighborhood of
many relics and modern cultural facilities including
Taipei Confucius Temple, Pao An Temple, Lao Shi Fu,
Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei Astronomical Museum
and Taipei Sea World. Our students are honored to
perform in the solemn ceremonies and ritual dances
in the Confucius Temple on Teachers' Day every year. We put much
emphasis on the full development of our students by
integrating the community service and creating the
happy learning environment. Through the efforts of
administrators, faculty and parents, we hope to
educate each student to be a healthy individual with
a thankful heart and passion to learn.
