Today was an incredibly heartwarming and deeply meaningful day for VIS MARS 32760. We had the immense honor of being invited by the Ministry of Education to report on our progress, learn directly from the Minister, and receive his warm words of encouragement.
This was actually our second time meeting the Minister. Our first meeting was following our return from the 2025 FIRST Championship after winning an award. Seeing him again felt wonderfully familiar, but it also brought a deeper sense of responsibility and gratitude.
During the meeting, we showcased the fruit of our hard work—the 32760 competition robot—and sincerely shared our journey to the FTC International Competition in Istanbul, Turkey, at the end of June this year. Looking back, our equipment was unexpectedly detained by customs upon arrival. Facing this sudden challenge in a foreign country, we adopted a humble mindset, reaching out to teams from all over the world to seek advice and borrow spare parts. Thanks to their selfless assistance, we were able to rebuild our robot, complete the competition, and even have the privilege of competing alongside the event's champion team. The Minister listened attentively throughout, showing remarkable patience and understanding.
After hearing our story, the Minister spoke very highly of our team. He commended our adaptability and perseverance in the face of adversity, calling them precious qualities of Taiwanese youth. For us, his words are more valuable than any trophy and serve as the greatest motivation to keep moving forward.
When the Minister kindly asked about our takeaways from this experience, I answered from the bottom of my heart: "Never give up." When facing setbacks, we must not shrink back. As long as we stay humble, address problems with a down-to-earth attitude, and take it one step at a time, the learning and growth along the way will always be our most valuable treasure, regardless of the final outcome.
To our delightful surprise, the Minister thoughtfully prepared a deeply meaningful gift for each team member: a practical tool set, reminding us to always make the most of the resources and skills at hand to overcome future hurdles; and a custom mug printed with a photo of our entire team holding the national flag at the airport alongside Secretary Huang from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission in Turkey. Holding this mug brought back a wave of memories from that foreign land—how we overcame obstacles with help from so many. It serves as a reminder that no matter how far we go in the future, we must always remember our original purpose, appreciate the support we’ve received, and keep moving forward with positivity.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister encouraged us to keep up the good work and carry this spirit of resilience and continuous learning into our future studies and life paths.
Carrying the Minister's blessings, the love and support from all sectors, and profound gratitude, Team VIS MARS 32760 will not stop here. Whether facing higher-level FRC challenges or various obstacles in life, we will stay humble, stay courageous, and strive to showcase the grounded and resilient spirit of Taiwan's youth!
