🧠✨ An Eye-Opening Introduction to Neuroscience!

We were so excited to welcome Dr. N from BioCompass for a special expert talk with our students! Dr. N is a neuroscientist, a mom, and such a fun and engaging teacher—she made the world of brain science feel approachable, exciting, and very real for our kids.

Students explored how different parts of the brain work and even got an up-close look at a 3D-printed brain model and a fascinating real sheep brain specimen! 🧠🔬 There were definitely lots of wide eyes, questions, and “WOW!” moments.

One of our goals for our older students is to help them look beyond their everyday curriculum and discover fields they may not normally encounter at school. Sometimes, one meaningful experience with an expert can spark an interest that stays with a child for years. 🌱

We are now working with Dr. N and BioCompass to explore bringing a deeper on-site neuroscience enrichment class to our students. We hope to give our older kids opportunities to expand their horizons, ask deeper questions, and perhaps discover a profound interest in neuroscience, medicine, biology, and the amazing human brain.

Thank you, Dr. N, for opening a new window of curiosity for our students! ❤️🧠

☀️ A Beautiful Weekend at Live Love Learn! 💙

This weekend, our classroom moved outdoors for a special 蓝晒 Cyanotype Art Experience! 🌿🌼

Children explored the garden, collected flowers and leaves, arranged their own designs, and watched the sunshine transform them into beautiful shades of blue. 💙 It was such a lovely combination of nature, art, science, creativity, and hands-on discovery.

We’re also very excited to welcome Ms. Jean as our art specialist! 🎨 Ms. Jean is a talented artist and an experienced children’s art instructor who brings so much creativity and warmth to the learning experience. She is also developing her own weekend art studio, where children can continue exploring different materials, techniques, and creative projects.

Thank you to everyone who joined our trial experience today—we loved seeing each child create something completely unique! ✨

🌱 Strong Relationships Create Stronger Learning

As we prepare for a new school year, we’re investing in professional development that reflects what matters most to us: creating a supportive, respectful, and connected learning environment for every child.

Our team recently took part in training on social-emotional learning and positive communication, led by Candy Chan, Founder of Hoppity Learning. This work supports our ongoing commitment to thoughtful communication, strong relationships, and the social-emotional well-being of our students, teachers, and families.

At Live Love Learn Chinese, we believe education goes beyond academics. When children feel understood, supported, and connected, they are better prepared to learn, grow, and thrive.

We’re proud to continue developing our teachers and embracing progressive approaches that place relationships, communication, and the whole child at the heart of our school philosophy. ❤️

Thank you, Candy, for helping our team reflect, connect, and grow together. 🌿

The first days of a new school year are always a little nerve-racking — but also some of the most satisfying. ❤️

And then the doors open.

Old students come running back with big smiles and hugs. New students slowly find their teachers, their classrooms, and new friends. A building that was quiet suddenly becomes lively again — filled with little voices, laughter, Chinese conversations, creativity, and learning.

But after school is about so much more than classes.

From making sure everyone has eaten their lunch, to reminding a child to drink water, helping with a bathroom break, finding a missing water bottle, or simply noticing when someone needs a little extra comfort — our teachers take care of the small things because those small things matter.

Before children can learn, they need to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.

Behind every Chinese lesson, art project, and STEM activity are teachers doing countless little things with patience, love, and care. ❤️

First days are busy. They can be a little chaotic. But seeing our children happy and our building full of life again makes it all worthwhile.

Welcome back! 新学年,我们回来啦!✨

Live. Love. Learn Chinese. ❤️

These three words are more than our name—they are the heart of everything we do.

Live Chinese by exploring the world through authentic experiences—not just in the classroom, but in museums, parks, kitchens, and the community.

Love Chinese by creating joyful memories, genuine friendships, and positive emotions that help children build a lifelong connection with the language and culture.

Learn Chinese through meaningful conversations, hands-on projects, cultural adventures, movement, art, cooking, STEM, and real-world experiences that make language come alive.

“Live”always comes first in order to foster love for learning!

This summer has been a beautiful reminder of why we started Live Love Learn Chinese.

Whether our students are practicing Shaolin Kung Fu, discovering wildlife at the zoo, asking questions in Mandarin during museum visits, cooking together, or simply laughing with friends during outdoor play, every moment is intentionally designed to help children see Chinese as a language for living—not just studying.

Our greatest hope is not simply that children leave camp knowing more Mandarin. We hope they leave with confidence, curiosity, wonderful memories, and a lifelong positive attitude toward Chinese language and culture.

✨ Summer Camp is still going strong in San Carlos through August 19, right before San Carlos schools begin! We’d love to welcome more families to experience what Live. Love. Learn Chinese. truly means.

Behind Every Unforgettable Journey ✈️🇹🇼❤️

When families see us, they see smiling faces welcoming children, leading activities, and sharing joyful moments.

What many don’t see is everything happening behind the scenes.

This June, our Taiwan Adventure was made possible through the collaboration between the founders of Live Love Learn Chinese (Sherry & Jessica) and Small World Explorer (co-founded by two amazing local moms).

After our own kids go to bed, our second workday begins.

A special thank you to Yawen, co-founder of Small World Explorer. ❤️ Happy Birthday! 🥳 Your passion, local expertise, and endless behind-the-scenes work made this journey possible. We’re so grateful to have you on this adventure with us! You put so much effort into:
✨ Researching destinations
✨ Visiting sites in advance
✨ Meeting local partners
✨ Testing restaurants and activities
✨ Planning educational experiences
✨ Creating safety plans
✨ Coordinating countless details that no one notices—unless something goes wrong.

Many of these jobs could be outsourced—but we often choose to do them ourselves because quality, safety, and meaningful learning matter too much.

Every decision comes down to one simple question:

“Would we want our own children to have this experience?”

The late nights aren’t healthy. 😅

But watching our students confidently use Mandarin, navigate a new culture, make lifelong friendships, and come home with unforgettable memories makes every hour worth it.

Thank you to every family who trusted us with your children this summer. ❤️

Now we’re dreaming about our next adventure…

🌏 Where should we go next?

🇨🇳 Beijing — Explore China’s capital, history, and imperial treasures?
🏙️ Shanghai — Experience modern China, innovation, and city life?
🇹🇼 Taipei again — Dive even deeper into Taiwan’s warm culture, delicious food, and everyday Mandarin?
✨ Or somewhere else in the Mandarin-speaking world?
Leave your dream destination in the comments! We’d love to build our next unforgettable journey together.

Our Taiwan journey came to a close with one of those moments that stays with you long after the trip ends. ✨🏮

In a peaceful little mountain town, surrounded by green hills, old railway tracks, and the gentle rhythm of a passing train, our families came together to create sky lanterns. Children and parents decorated them with hopes, kind wishes, and dreams for the future—then watched them rise into the sky together.

There is something so special about traveling as a group: children have friends to explore with, parents share laughter and little discoveries along the way, and every place feels warmer when experienced together. From quiet streets and local shops to wide-open nature and shared traditions, this final day felt like a beautiful reminder that learning can happen anywhere—not only in a classroom.

Thank you to every family who brought your energy, curiosity, and openness to this journey. We are leaving Taiwan with full hearts, new friendships, and many wishes still floating somewhere above the mountains. 💛

🌿🇹🇼 Weekend Market Adventure in Taiwan 🇹🇼🌿

As an extension of our week-long Taiwan Summer Camp, our students spent the weekend stepping beyond the classroom and into the heart of the local community!

This morning, the children explored a traditional neighborhood farmers market and mingled with local students! Rather than learning Chinese from a textbook, they practiced Mandarin the way local children do—through real conversations, real people, and real experiences.

From asking vendors about vegetables and fruits, to learning how prices are measured, to chatting with friendly market aunties and farm stand owners, every interaction became a meaningful language lesson. The warmth of the local community was incredible—many vendors welcomed our students with smiles, encouragement, and patient conversations.

What made this experience special wasn’t just the Chinese practice. It was watching students build confidence, curiosity, and cultural understanding as they navigated an authentic environment. They learned how food moves from farm to table, discovered ingredients they had never seen before, and selected fresh produce for our afternoon activities.

Language learning comes alive when children use it with purpose. Today, Mandarin became a tool for connection, discovery, and friendship.

Sometimes the best classroom has no walls. ❤️

🇹🇼✨ Our First International Summer Camp in Taiwan ✨🇹🇼

What a joyful week it has been so far.

One of the most beautiful parts of this trip hasn’t just been the places we’ve visited—it’s been watching a community come together. While the children spend their days exploring, learning, and growing, parents are also building friendships of their own. Meals turn into conversations, recommendations get exchanged, and new memories are being created every day.

There is something special about traveling with families who share similar values—curiosity, learning, connection, and a sense of adventure.

For the children, each day brings new discoveries. They are stepping into unfamiliar places with excitement, learning to navigate new environments, practicing Chinese naturally throughout the day, and gaining confidence in ways that are difficult to recreate in a traditional classroom. Along the way, they are laughing together, solving problems together, and forming friendships that seem to grow stronger with each passing day.

Travel has a wonderful way of turning the world into a classroom.

Some lessons come from cultural experiences and hands-on activities. Others come from ordering food, riding public transportation, trying something new, helping a friend, or finding the courage to speak up. These are often the moments that stay with children long after the trip ends.

As we reach Day 4 of our very first Taiwan camp, we are feeling incredibly grateful—for the families who joined us, for the friendships that are blossoming, and for the opportunity to learn together in such a meaningful way.

The memories are already piling up, but our adventure isn’t over yet. We still have more places to discover, more stories to create, and more laughter ahead.

Stay tuned for the rest of the journey. ❤️🇹🇼
