🌿🇹🇼 Weekend Market Adventure in Taiwan 🇹🇼🌿
As an extension of our week-long Taiwan Summer Camp, our students spent the weekend stepping beyond the classroom and into the heart of the local community!
This morning, the children explored a traditional neighborhood farmers market and mingled with local students! Rather than learning Chinese from a textbook, they practiced Mandarin the way local children do—through real conversations, real people, and real experiences.
From asking vendors about vegetables and fruits, to learning how prices are measured, to chatting with friendly market aunties and farm stand owners, every interaction became a meaningful language lesson. The warmth of the local community was incredible—many vendors welcomed our students with smiles, encouragement, and patient conversations.
What made this experience special wasn’t just the Chinese practice. It was watching students build confidence, curiosity, and cultural understanding as they navigated an authentic environment. They learned how food moves from farm to table, discovered ingredients they had never seen before, and selected fresh produce for our afternoon activities.
Language learning comes alive when children use it with purpose. Today, Mandarin became a tool for connection, discovery, and friendship.
Sometimes the best classroom has no walls. ❤️

🇹🇼✨ Our First International Summer Camp in Taiwan ✨🇹🇼
What a joyful week it has been so far.
One of the most beautiful parts of this trip hasn’t just been the places we’ve visited—it’s been watching a community come together. While the children spend their days exploring, learning, and growing, parents are also building friendships of their own. Meals turn into conversations, recommendations get exchanged, and new memories are being created every day.
There is something special about traveling with families who share similar values—curiosity, learning, connection, and a sense of adventure.
For the children, each day brings new discoveries. They are stepping into unfamiliar places with excitement, learning to navigate new environments, practicing Chinese naturally throughout the day, and gaining confidence in ways that are difficult to recreate in a traditional classroom. Along the way, they are laughing together, solving problems together, and forming friendships that seem to grow stronger with each passing day.
Travel has a wonderful way of turning the world into a classroom.
Some lessons come from cultural experiences and hands-on activities. Others come from ordering food, riding public transportation, trying something new, helping a friend, or finding the courage to speak up. These are often the moments that stay with children long after the trip ends.
As we reach Day 4 of our very first Taiwan camp, we are feeling incredibly grateful—for the families who joined us, for the friendships that are blossoming, and for the opportunity to learn together in such a meaningful way.
The memories are already piling up, but our adventure isn’t over yet. We still have more places to discover, more stories to create, and more laughter ahead.
Stay tuned for the rest of the journey. ❤️🇹🇼
🇹🇼✨ Our very first Taiwan Family Summer Camp has officially begun!
This weekend, some of our families from the Bay Area community gathered together in Taipei for a sweet Taiwanese tradition—making pineapple cakes from scratch. 🍍🥮
There’s something special about learning a culture through your hands. As parents and children mixed, shaped, filled, and baked side by side, they weren’t just making a delicious treat—they were creating memories, sharing laughter, and experiencing Taiwan’s rich food culture together.
Over the next few days, our young cultural explorers will discover Taiwan through its food, people, stories, language, and everyday life. We can’t wait to learn, explore, and grow together as one big camp family.
Thank you to all the wonderful families who joined us on this adventure. Taiwan, here we come! ❤️

🌿🚆 What Happens When a Chinese School Camp Leaves the Classroom?
Many people hear “Chinese school camp” and imagine rows of children writing Chinese characters over and over again in workbooks.
That’s exactly the stereotype we have spent years challenging.
At Live Love Learn Chinese, we believe language is meant to be lived, not just studied.
This Memorial Day Camp, our students boarded an electric Caltrain, listened to the quiet hum of modern technology, practiced independence and safety skills, and traveled together into nature. Along the way, they observed ducks and trees, explored forest trails, built friendships, asked questions, and experienced the world through Chinese.
🚆 Riding a modern electric train
🌲 Walking beneath towering redwoods
🦆 Observing wildlife and natural habitats
💬 Practicing real-world communication
❤️ Building confidence, curiosity, and community
Over the years, we have continuously explored, reflected, and refined our programs in an effort to stay true to our belief:
Live. Love. Learn. Chinese.
We want children to associate Chinese not only with textbooks, but with adventures, friendships, creativity, nature, technology, and meaningful life experiences.
Because language learning is most powerful when it is connected to real memories.
Watching our students move seamlessly from a quiet electric train to a peaceful forest trail reminded us that Chinese education can be both deeply meaningful and wonderfully joyful.
Thank you to all the families who trust us to keep reimagining what Chinese learning can look like. 💚

🐾 Student-Led Expert Talk: The Meaning of Animal Rescue 🐾
One of the most rewarding parts of our program is watching students discover their passions and share them with others.
This week, we were inspired by a student-led Expert Talk on dog fostering and animal rescue. Our student speaker shared knowledge about why animals end up in shelters, how foster families help dogs transition into permanent homes, and what it means to give animals a second chance.
We are so proud of our students who care deeply about animals and are willing to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. Their compassion reminds us that kindness extends beyond people—it includes the animals that share our communities.
Animal rescue is about much more than finding homes for pets. It is about responsibility, empathy, patience, and hope. Every foster family helps create space for another animal in need, and every adoption changes two lives: the animal’s and the family’s.
Through experiences like these, our students learn that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. We hope to continue nurturing young leaders who care about their communities, animals, and the world around them.
🐶 Thank you to our student expert for teaching us about compassion in action and inspiring others to support animal rescue.

✨ Family Glamping Memories ✨
This weekend, our families slowed down and enjoyed the simple joy of being together in nature. 🌲⛺️
Some students explored new adventures, some parents finally had a chance to relax, and everyone found their own favorite way to enjoy the woods — from games and camp activities to quiet moments under the trees. There was something so healing and peaceful about stepping away from busy schedules and simply enjoying time together.
We truly believe it takes a village to raise a child. ❤️
We are so grateful to be building this village alongside so many kind, supportive, and like-minded families who value connection, culture, childhood, and community.
A very special shoutout to our amazing parent volunteers, especially thom, for bringing so much warmth, energy, and care to this experience, while taking care of two kids of her own! 🌿 We would also love to welcome more families to join us in planning future community events together — bringing your own passions, talents, wisdom, and creativity to help create meaningful and unique childhood memories for our kids.
Thank you to every family who joined us and made these memories so meaningful. We can’t wait for the next adventure together!
Can’t wait to show moms all these creative works (Mom with Her Earring) from our kindergartners in our after school program! They crafted them with their love for moms and passion for art! 🖼️ Inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring (1665)

Growing Our Roots Together, To A New Neighborhood 🌿
Reflecting on our first two years, our hearts are so full. What began as a vision for immersive, joyful Mandarin Chinese learning has grown into a vibrant community of over 100 students in our afterschool Mandarin and enrichment programs, along with many more families participating in our day camps, seasonal camps, our upcoming pilot Taiwan immersion trip, and community events like family glamping. None of this would have been possible without your trust, support, ongoing feedback, and enthusiasm. Thank you for being part of this journey with us, to provide this environment for our children!
We would love for every child to have the opportunity to live, love, and learn Chinese. Thanks to the many thoughtful inquiries and encouragement we’ve received from families in neighboring communities, we are both excited and humbled to share that we are exploring the possibility of opening a second location in Menlo Park or nearby!
As we grow, our goal remains the same: to create a program that reflects the unique needs of its community while staying grounded in the joyful, immersive philosophy that shaped our San Carlos campus.
We would truly appreciate your support. If you live in or have friends or family in the Menlo Park area with children in TK–5th grade who may be interested in joining our community, please share this post with them! We’ve created a special interest list to gather feedback and keep interested families updated as plans develop.

We are incredibly hopeful for this next chapter and deeply grateful to have your support alongside us—just as we did when we first began our San Carlos journey.
