當在托福口說中，你被問到崇拜的人或是role model時，你都說誰呢？如果要形容一個人很聰明，美國人常用 "smart cookie" 這樣的說法。而跟cookie 相似的用法還有tough cookie 這樣的用法。但tough cookie 可能一面有「堅強有毅力的人」的意思，但也有「難相處的人」的意思，所以要特別用注意context 喔～

e.g. Cathy is really one smart cookie.

美國911事件所倒塌的世貿大樓遺址被叫做The Ground Zero Site，現在已被建上新的大樓。整個大樓倒塌，一切從零、平地開始，也象徵著對於和平的盼望。

加分用法:（做什麼事情) 從零開始
I built the company "from the ground up".
= I built the company "from scratch".
= I built the company "from the very beginning".
= I built the company "from ground zero".

而如果一個計劃失敗了，必須要重新研商規劃的話，則使用
"go back to the drawing board", as in "Researchers went back to the drawing board to find where they went wrong."

當我回溯我的(高中)大學生活 (4種說法)
1. When I cast my mind bk to high school / college life...
2. When I retrace my steps in high school / college...
3. In retrospect / In hindsight, my high school / college life was...
4. When I look back on my high school / college life...
