Malaysian Roti Canai
Roti Canai gets its name from the concept of “Indian flatbread tossing,” with “Canai” derived from the Indian word Chana, meaning “to roll or flatten.” Originally made by South Indian immigrants in Malaysia, it evolved into a unique Malaysian delicacy. Crispy on the outside and soft inside, it’s often enjoyed with curry or rich Indian condensed milk!

✨ Candlelit Lamp: Nine Dragons Workshop
“Candlelit” reflects the gentle flicker of candlelight, creating a mesmerizing play of light and shadow.
“Nine Dragons” symbolizes layers of depth and beauty, inspired by the number nine, which represents diversity, perfection, and infinity in Chinese culture.

This workshop draws inspiration from the traditional Chinese motif of the nine dragons. Each panel of the lamp is adorned with intricate dragon designs, symbolizing strength and good fortune. As the light dances, the dragons come alive, showcasing the stunning interplay of shadows and movement, a true embodiment of “Nine Dragons.”

The creative process combines traditional artistry with a touch of modern innovation, making the finished lamp not only culturally meaningful but also uniquely personal.

✨ 燭繞九映·龍手工坊
「燭繞」：蠟燭的火焰搖曳，形成環繞的光影效果。
「九映」：象徵光影的多層次與變化，有九重光影的意境，也可延伸為「極致的美」。在中國文化中，數字「九」常用來象徵多樣性、圓滿與無限。

本次工作坊的設計靈感來源於中國傳統的九龍形象，每一面燈片都飾以細膩的龍紋圖案，象徵力量與祥瑞。這些龍影如同活靈活現般舞動，展現了「九映」的光影之美。同時，製作過程中融入了現代的創意元素，讓這份作品既具有文化意涵，也充滿個人特色。

From Traditional to Modern: Shaping Characters Through the Body
What is Noh theater? It is a traditional Japanese performing art that combines body movements and vocal techniques to transport audiences through time and bring characters to life.
In this workshop led by Chiei Okuda, you’ll explore how this ancient art form can be used to create modern characters.

[Instructor]
Okyda, Tomoaki (Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Theatre Arts)
Director. Graduated with a Master’s degree from Kyoto University of the Arts. Directed works include Isolation by Li Jianming, In the Womb by Jūrō Miyoshi, and Escape by Gao Xingjian. He has also published multiple academic papers on contemporary theater and Noh theater.
As a young Japanese director, Okyda, Tomoaki incorporates traditional Noh techniques of body movement and vocalization into his productions with his theater group, Sannin no Kai. His works emphasize intuitive and essential expressions. In this workshop, Okyda, Tomoaki will guide participants through Noh theater body training, exploring how to shape characters through physical expression.

【教師介紹】
奥田知叡（戲劇學系博一）
導演。京都藝術大學大學院碩士畢業。 導演作品；李健鳴《隔離》、三好十郎《胎内》、高行健《逃亡》等。以及發表多篇有關當代戲劇和能劇論文。
奧田知叡是日本的青年導演，在自己的劇團「三人之會」使用日本傳統劇場（能劇）的肢體操作技巧和發聲技巧，製作重視本質性直覺性的舞台作品。 在這次的工作坊，奧田會帶大家體驗能劇的形體訓練，試圖通過身體的表現塑造角色。
