"I want pony" and "I want a pony" have very different meanings, in the same way that "I want chicken" differs from "I want a chicken".
If you skip articles (a / an / the / some), then your meaning becomes "I (verb) SOME (common noun)" by default. E.g. "I want water" means "I want SOME water".

More language of lies
A ‘swindle’ can be used as a noun and a verb, as a noun it refers to a situation where someone has been cheated out of money or possessions through deceit or lies.
‘I lost a lot of money in the insurance swindle during the 1990s.’
As a verb ‘swindle’ refers to the action of deceit and lies leading to the receipt of ill gotten goods or money.
‘He swindled her out of her life savings, I hope he gets caught and goes to jail.’
If you ‘mislead’ someone then you purposefully set out to give them the wrong idea or impression.
‘I think he has misled me. I am sure he told me the party was Saturday, not today, as he doesn’t want me to be there.’
‘A fallacy’ refers to a belief that is based on a falsehood or an unsound argument.
‘The idea that all babies can walk when they are one is a fallacy.’
