令人感動的是 Jane Goodall 永遠給人們及地球帶來希望，能夠經由教育提升一個人未來是最有意義的！唐獎很榮幸於2020年頒給珍古德唐奬永續發展獎，她也非常高興。因為，唐獎也要求有創新的實質貢獻，她因爲黒猩猩觀察及發現，並完成博士學位，又有致力和平、永續並愛護地球給予希望的貢獻，是超越諾貝爾和平獎，而唐獎永續發展奬恰能涵括她的貢獻。

唐獎創辦人尹衍樑一生也是從教育出發，長期低調關懷需要協助的個人、族群、組織、社會，及地球，他致力為人類、環境及地球的永續發展，為創造美好世界努力。他關心心未來，所以曾說：「 200年以後的兒孫還有沒有氧氣可以吸 ? 」，簡單一句智慧之語，道盡他的關懷及永績發展的重要性。

尹衍樑創立唐獎，珍古德是唐獎最重要的永續大使之一，我們勉懷他們的貢獻。

The graduation speech delivered by Nathan Thadeo Yoashi, a Ph.D. graduate of National Taiwan University from Tanzania, deeply moved audiences across Taiwan. His journey stands as a powerful testament to how education can transform lives through perseverance, determination, and opportunity.

Nathan has spoken openly about the profound encouragement and support he received from Dr. Jane Goodall, whose belief in education helped shape his path from a small village in Tanzania to earning a doctoral degree in Taiwan. His story reminds us that investing in education is one of the most meaningful ways to create lasting change for individuals, communities, and future generations. Dr. Goodall has long inspired people around the world through her commitment to conservation, peace, sustainability, and hope for our planet.

The Tang Prize was honored to award the 2020 Sustainable Development Prize to Dr. Goodall in recognition of her groundbreaking discoveries in primatology that redefined the human-animal relationship, and for her lifelong, unparalleled dedication to the conservation of Earth’s environment. Through her work, she has demonstrated how scientific discovery can foster a deeper understanding of humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

The vision behind the Tang Prize also reflects the lifelong values of its founder, Dr. Samuel Yin. Guided by a deep belief in education and human dignity, he devoted himself to helping those in need while promoting the sustainable development of society and the environment. He often reminded us to think beyond the present generation, once asking:

“Will our descendants still have oxygen to breathe 200 years from now?”

In this simple yet profound question lies a powerful reminder of why sustainability matters.
