The aims of the IBMS are to enhance biomedical research and encourage collaborative biomedical research efforts in Taiwan.

Its major goals are:

To pursue excellence in research in basic biomedical sciences. To promote translational research by interacting with clinical biomedical research institutions. To provide a favorable environment for training and nurturing biomedical scientists. To advance diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive measures for major diseases, with emphasis on cardiovascular, infectious, neoplastic, neurological, and mental diseases.
