The school was established in 1898 during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, and was the Taipei First High School, the first public high school in Taiwanese history.CKHS is frequently cited as one of the most prestigious preparatory schools for boys in Taiwan, requiring the highest scores on the national senior high school entrance exams.
