Living and studying abroad comes with exciting opportunities, but also real challenges, from adjusting to a new culture to managing stress and building new relationships. Developing self-awareness and self-care habits can make all the difference in navigating this transition.
Last week, the Community Services Center visited Ming Chuan University in Taipei for a session with 500 international students. ๐โจ
Led by our Counseling Psychologist, Charlotte Lee, the talk explored how to better understand emotions, recognize whatโs beneath our reactions, and build simple, sustainable self-care practices. From the Satir Iceberg model to breathing and emotional regulation techniques, students gained practical tools they can carry into daily life.
Thank you, ้ๅณๅคงๅญธ Ming Chuan University, for the opportunity to connect with your international student community. ๐

When you understand the history, the image changes.
At our May Coffee Morning, New York-based artist Jason Cole Mager explores how Taiwanโs past shapes the meaning behind his work. Drawing on symbols from the Dutch and Japanese colonial periods, his paintings layer cultures, histories, and perspectives into a single image.
Join us for a relaxed morning of coffee โ and conversation with the international community. Enjoy free refreshments sponsored by Agile Relocations, connect with others, and take part in a thoughtful discussion.

We have an important update to share with our community ๐
Following a recent Board decision, our 2nd floor program space will close at the end of May 2026, as we transition to a more flexible model. From June, weโll be taking time to reimagine how we deliver our programs so they better reflect how our community lives, connects, and accesses support today.
Our community and programs are not going away. They are evolving. โจ
You can expect more flexible, accessible, and thoughtfully designed programs across Taipei.
Whatโs staying the same:
โจ Counseling and wellbeing services (in-person + online)
โจ Our four signature events: Coffee Morning, Poetry Night, Christmas Bazaar, and Clothing Swap
๐ Future programs and events will take place in venues across the city
This is a new chapter for the Center, and weโre excited for whatโs ahead.

What gives an image its meaning?
