國立臺灣大學生物多樣性研究中心為校級學院級研究中心，旨在整合、協調?
【創立緣起與願景】
世界多國領袖於1992年在巴西里約熱內盧召開之地球高峰會簽署《生物多樣性公約》，透過締約方的努力達到「保育生物多樣性」、「永續利用生物多樣性」以及「公平合理分享使用遺傳資源所帶來的惠益」三大目標。為回應生物多樣性公約之目標，我國行政院於2001年通過《生物多樣性推動方案》。
國立臺灣大學（以下簡稱本校）呼應《生物多樣性推動方案》，遂於2001年成立校一級單位「生物多樣性研究中心」（以下簡稱本中心），藉此整合本校既有教學研究及附設單位之人才與資源，以推動生物多樣性的整合研究並培育人才，進而達到《生物多樣性公約》「保育」、「永續利用」及「惠益均享」的理念。
本中心自2001年至2020年期間，先後由林曜松教授、陳保基教授、徐源泰教授、李玲玲教授、袁孝維教授、邱祈榮副教授擔任中心主任，藉由整合本校既有教學研究及附設單位之人才與資源，推動生物多樣性的整合研究並培育人才，以
