Greetings delegates. I'm Muriel Miao, currently a second-year student in Taipei Municipal Zhongshan Girls Senior High and the chief of academics for Maples Ambassadors club in Zhongshan. I have spent about a quarter of my life so far in the UK, and the experience brought a brand new change to my life. It is my utmost honour to serve as your co-chair in SOCHUM, CKMUN 2020. MUN has played a huge part in my high school life. Since entering the MUN community in my first year in high school, it has changed me completely. MUN taught me numerous valuable things, brought me brilliant bosom friends and broadened my horizons. Therefore, I am more than able to understand why many are so intrigued by it.
MUN is not merely a place to learn certain topics or English debating skills. It is where ideas collide and form through sufficient cooperation and negotiation. It is the way to success and growth. Without a doubt, CKMUN will give you the most extraordinary learning experience ever as it strives to recreate and fulfill the value of MUN. We look forward to seeing you in CKMUN 2020. Serving as the chair of the SOCHUM Committee, it is my utmost privilege and pleasure to welcome you to CK Model United Nations 2020. “The saddest aspect of life right now, is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.” Quoting American Writer Isaac Asimov, CKMUN strives to bridge the gap between society and knowledge, inspiring its participants through committee and issue choices that each provide exposure upon a designated aspect of the international society.
Unlike other Model UN conferences, CKMUN identifies itself as an higher-intermediate and competitive conference, aiming to hone the ability of its participants through intense debate and compact proposition of documents, all upon the founding principles of international public and civil law. Personally, I would like to invite seasoned delegates who are hoping for a challenge to join us, so you may witness for yourself, a brand new Model UN experience.
As an ending note, quoting former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, “The fact that Model United Nations exists to uphold the values of the United Nations among the young is particularly important, since it is from the young that we should draw our energy and inspiration as we strive to make the United Nations effective and responsive to the needs of people worldwide.” CKMUN is confident in becoming one of the best high school level MUN conferences in Taiwan, and I assure you, that CKMUN may fulfill you as one of your most fruitful and unforgettable learning experience.

Greetings to my beloved delegates! I am Bi-Syuan Pan, usually called PBS in short, currently majoring in the Department of Humanities and Social Science at National Chiao Tung University. I started my Model United Nations career back in high school while studying at HSNU. CKMUN 2020 will be my twentieth time of participating in MUN as well as the eighth time chairing. Apart from MUN, I am also interested in dancing, cooking, and listening to indie music.
The circle of MUN could be big, there are many types of people, a lot of thoughts, different views, to name but a few. However, it could also be small, meeting similar issues, old faces, etc. There is always something new, but there are also some issues too complicated to solve.
Step out of your comfort zone and broaden your horizons. I have to say that it will be never enough to learn something new from a meeting. Cooperate with people via debating, communicating, and persuading. You will get something from the process—skills, thoughts, ways, feelings of fulfilling and so on－no matter during the preparation, before the meeting, in the period of the meeting, or after the meeting. Especially those who participated with you these days are so treasured that you should appreciate them so much. Anyway, enjoy every MUN and gain knowledge, friends, experience, courage, and dreams.
If this is your first meeting, welcome and hope you can gain a lot through your MUN life. If this is not the first one, congratulation that you improve a little, or a lot. If this is your last one, that will be our honor to be part of your memories. Thank you for your participation and hope you enjoy it. Can’t wait to meet y’all; see you in April!

Greetings! I am Andy Zhou, currently studying second grade in Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School. I will be serving as a co-chair in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council of Chien Kuo Model United Nations in the following April. It is my utmost pleasure and honour to be part of this great event, along with all of the delegates. Recalling when and where my trip of Model UN started, it was joining the CKMUN organisation last year. Beginning as a rookie, I am now one of the academics and the art designer in the organisation. All I can say now is that this truly is a wonderful journey, yet I can already see so much more for me to learn and explore ahead. Model United Nations has shown me new perspectives, raised my awareness and sensitivity of international affairs, and trained my expressing, negotiating and critical thinking skills. Model United Nations has enriched my high school life, created the best memories and given me the chance to meet amazing friends. Ni hao delegates,
It is my pleasure to be leading the board of dais of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council of Chien Kuo Model United Nations 2020. I am more than honoured to be a part of this inaugural conference and of course I am excited to visit Taiwan for the first time. I come from a place where unity is fostered by food. You heard that right, it is Malaysia! I am a student of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and I’m bound to graduate by the end of 2020.
Deciding to embark on the journey of Model United Nations in the year 2016 was one of the best life choices I have ever made. Though, initially I was carried away by the fancy clothes and classy socials dinner, but sooner or later I realised there is more to it. It is the one platform that helped me discover myself, further enhancing essential qualities such as diplomacy and empathy alongside developing strong rapport with the most amazing people in the world.
Delegates, remember the Chinese philosophy I strongly live by; "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. Do not be afraid to take your first step. This is the step that is going to take you on one of the most thrilling rides of your life. And I wish to be of help to all of you in achieving that, so stay put and I will see you all in Taipei next April.

I’m Mitzi. I am currently a Juris Doctor (Law) student at the University of Saint La Salle - Philippines. I recently graduated Cum Laude with the degree of Bachelor of Arts Major in Consular and Diplomatic Affairs from De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde. My advocacy has always been to find sustainable and inclusive solutions for the refugees all over the world — the reason why I began immersing myself in Model United Nations Conferences. My MUN career includes the Harvard World Model United Nations Montreal, International Model United Nations Hanoi and other local MUNs from which I either chaired or bagged several outstanding position paper awards. I have also been invited to become a mentor for MUN speech trainings for my university’s National MUN-China and National MUN-New York delegation.
During my years in college, I was an active student Ambassador for the external linkages of my school and concluded a thesis which focused on UN led frameworks on Disaster Risk Reduction and its effect to Indonesia’s policy making and plans using the lens of Multilateral Functionalism.
I am fond of traveling and learning about the culture of other countries through meeting new people abroad. During my free time, I also like to read books, hike and go to the beach.
