遊戲同時也提供動機. 遊戲把競爭原素帶入語言建構活動中. 此方法提供有目的的語言使用一個有價值地推動力 (Prasad 2003)

Field Trip

FASA can provide a fun English language outing for your students.

Our day trip program offers an enjoyable learning experience – a chance for students to learn some new vocabulary, practice their existing skills, and improve their confidence – while engaging in a fun and reinforcing activity.

FASA programs are delivered by experienced English instructors who can also offer basic skills coaching at the table. The lesson may include vocabulary handouts and worksheets for use in the classroom, and additional opportunities to engage and reinforce the learned language via social media. The level of English instruction is easily adjusted to suit any age or ability.

Most importantly, the students have an opportunity to interact in English while having fun playing the elegant game of pocket billiards.

FASA pool parties are conducted in a safe, air-conditioned environment, close to your location. We can accommodate small or large groups at very reasonable cost.
Duration, start time, end time – everything can be tailored to accommodate your requirements.

Improve English with Play

On the surface, the aim of all language games is for students to “use the language”; however, during game play learners also use the target language to persuade and negotiate their way to desired results. This process involves the productive and receptive skills simultaneously.”

There are many things people can do together but it’s difficult to have a conversation while playing basketball. To practice speaking we need a game that permits conversation. Billiards is a fun and effective way to learn to speak and understand English.

"Games are also motivating. Games introduce an element of competition into language-building activities. This provides valuable impetus to a purposeful use of language. (Prasad 2003) In other words, these activities create a meaningful context for language use…which enhances unconscious acquisition of inputs."

Students will speak English with the instructor and with their peers. They will learn new vocabulary and sentence patterns, and use those terms to effective and practical purpose in real time.

Sessions are accompanied by English commentary about what is going on, with dialogues using level-adjusted language representing many of the most common conversational and grammatical forms. These are repeated in conjunction with the game conditions and the student’s own performance, in a relaxed, fun environment.
The nature and pace of the game provides consistent and repeated opportunity for students to use new language in a self-rewarding fashion.
The language, thus connected to objects and actions, enhances both comprehension and retention.

"Games stimulate communicative skills. Students feel less afraid of using their English during game play. The competition gives students a natural opportunity to interact and communicate using English. Furthermore, by integrating playing and learning, students practice the learned linguistic knowledge in a vivid and meaningful context."

The benefits of using games in language-learning can be summed up in nine points:

- They are learner centered;
- promote communicative competence;
- create a meaningful context for language use;
- increase learning motivation;
- reduce learning anxiety;
- integrate various linguistic skills;
- encourage creative and spontaneous use of language;
- construct a cooperative learning environmrnt and foster participatory attitudes of the students.
- A particular feature of games as a learning method is that students with lower language ability in a team can still contribute if they are good at skills other than languages.

Thanks to everyone who showed up for the rain game FASA promotion at PK Billiards last night. A small group, but fun was had. Bigger things on the horizon.

FASA invites anyone who would like to learn or practice their English to discover how much fun you can have while sharpening your language skills.
Beginning at 4:00PM and continuing through 10:00 PM, FASA instructors will be available to play a few racks, teach a little English, and answer any questions you may have about our program.
Come by for an hour at your convenience, or stay the whole evening.
Tell your friends and come on out!

我們在FASA不同意這句話。事實上,我們的想法和那具完全相反。
學習中最大的敵人是無聊。
一邊做你喜歡做的事情一邊學習,語言障礙是容易克服。
如果你有樂趣,同時用英語,你會學到更多,了解更多。

“If you are having fun, you can’t be learning!”

FASA disagrees. In fact, we believe that could not be more wrong.
The worst enemy of learning is boredom.
If you're interested in a subject, language barriers are easily overcome.
If you are both interested in the subject and having fun at the same time, you learn more, understand more and retain new language in greater degree and for a longer period of time.
FASA English is fun and effective.

FASA課程每一堂課最多六個學生。你會與你的教練合其他學習者用英語對話. 您將學習新的詞彙和句型,實時有效和實用的目的使用這些術語

玩遊戲會提升對話技能。學生在遊戲中不會害怕使用自己的英語。 學生用生動及有意義的內容練習所學的語言知識。

每一堂課都伴有英文解說,全部使用調整過的語言,呈現最普及使用的對話及文法形式。 他們呈現出動作與遊戲條件的關聯性, 在一個允許安靜對話的環境裡 暫停遊戲為了延展特定的語言重點是一見非常簡單的事。此遊戲的性質也提供了即時機會,讓學生自我獎勵方式採用新的語言。語言連接到具體對象和動作,使學生有基本概念 - 它直接牽涉到與他們有關係及有興趣的活動。學習跟語言而因此被加強。
