This month, astronomers reported that phosphates were detected on Enceladus, the sixth-largest moon of Saturn.

This completed the discovery of all the basic chemical ingredients for life on the moon. Besides phosphorus, scientists had previously detected carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur.
