讓旅人來上課，
是一個透過旅人到學校(目前以苗栗偏鄉地區為主)，和學生分享自己的故事、國家與文化、職業領域裡的專業，進行一系列的藝術創作、音樂、語言(甚至一起享用營養午餐)等互動的機制，讓孩子們知道有很多人過著和自己想象中“非常不一樣”的生活。
藉由這個計畫，讓旅人與孩子共同完成一些實質上的創作，例如：「結合英文教學與繪畫的小書、旅人帶領學生在美術課上完成的作品、旅人協同學生到附近社區教爺爺奶奶一起彩繪漂流木、旅人的在地深度旅行、旅人與學生共同替店家翻譯菜單、建立在地旅行地圖、旅人體驗後的文章撰寫與分享…」。
將這些成果透過影像與文字的呈現，建立整個過程的機制並將其延續、推廣且帶動當地店家與社區共同參與，除了促進觀光、友善國內外旅人的同時，也讓孩子們透過互動的過程，能夠從中學習，了解能為旅人與自己生長的土地做些什麼，增進孩子與旅人對苗栗的
在地認同，期許所有參與計畫的旅人、老師、學生和夥伴，所認識的世界都能變得更寬廣、更真實，也讓更多人看見這塊土地的美麗！
Travelers in Class invites travelers to schools in Miaoli, Taiwan so you can share your exciting stories and talents (such as painting or photography), make friends and have fun with local students. You won’t be teaching or giving formal and boring presentations to students, it’s more about bonding with the students and opening their eyes to the possibilities this life has to offer and the amazing places they can discover. Through this project, we’d like to connect travelers and children so that they can have meaningful experiences together. Such as making something together in art class, teaching the community elders to paint on wood with acrylic, organizing a “local style” tour for travelers(We can give you a local tour of Miaoli, just let us know what your interests are!), helping students translate signs on shops and trail maps etc.
Ｗe will document the project using essays and video recordings. This way, others who are interested in visiting the beautiful Taiwan countryside and live like a local will have the resources to plan their travel. Ｗe also hope the students can learn something from their interactions with travelers, know that they are capable of doing more than they can imagine, have a sense of purpose, belonging, and love for land they live on. We really hope that “Travelers In Class” will be a very unique and meaningful experience for you during your journey through Miaoli, Taiwan!
