【工業4.0下的亞洲製造新展望】

現在很多人在討論工業4.0和物聯網。但是越來越少人了解這個偉大概念的根源,而只關注于枝微末節,失去了對於總體的認識。只有對於工業4.0的來龍去脈有了了解,就能夠理解工業4.0對於亞洲製造國家(尤其是中國)的綜合戰略的理解,並且為自己的戰略做準備。

【什麼是工業4.0】
工業4.0與物聯網是密不可分的。工業4.0(加上物聯網)的概念原本是給不具有製造能力的(產品)設計師,讓他們能夠利用網路投送他們的設計,而系統可以針對他們的設計自動化的進行(1)設計規則檢查,(2)成本(價格)估算,和(3)交期估算。一旦這三樣通過了設計師的評估,產品就可以通過物聯網進行製造、組裝,甚至銷售。因此,工業4.0是關於少量多樣化的產品設計。

【背景】
工業4.0從德國發起,是一個影響全歐的重要發明。從2000年以來,歐洲擔心著歐洲的製造能力逐漸移向亞洲。一開始是從東南亞開始,慢慢的發展到中國。一方面這是好事,因為歐洲人可以享用較為便宜的商品。另一方面,從歐洲辛辛苦苦發展的技術逐漸流向亞洲。

現在,感謝工業4.0,歐洲的製造設備可以獲得全球輸出。並且,歐洲最引以為傲的設計能力更可以因為聯合了全球的製造能力而得以得以提升。

【製造亞洲的回應】
亞洲的製造能力從二戰之後得到了巨量的發展。現在,崛起的中國以全球工廠自居,因為中國有強大的材料、能源的儲存,廉價而高品質的勞工,優越的公共運輸體系和政策的支援。我們基於種種的事實推斷中國對於工業4.0的政策為4大重點:

(1)中國歡迎工業4.0因為可以善用中國製造和運輸的能力。
(2)中國對於工業4.0基本上已經準備好了,因為中國有全球最大的物聯網和管理經驗。(比如阿里巴巴、淘寶)。
(3)對於自動化設備(機器人)而言,中國可以自己做,或是併購重點企業(因為大多數的企業規模尚小)以獲得其產品與know-hows。對於機器人自動化程序設計,許多從日本、韓國、台灣的高級工程師可以為之所用。
(4)如果真的要說,中國對於材料科學的掌握還不夠,因此他們正在努力的追趕。

我們推測在很短的時間內,中國版的工業4.0就可以上線了。你準備好了嗎?

【The impact of industry 4.0 with IoT to manufacturing Asia】

Nowadays everybody talks about Industrie 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT). However, less and less person understand the origins of these great concepts. Many small details are emphasized and the great picture was lost. He/she can understand the strategies of Asia countries (mainly China) responses and plan their owned strategies, if the basic concepts can be captured.

[What is industrie 4.0?]

The industrie 4.0 cannot go alone without IoT. The idea of the industrie 4.0 (+IoT) is that: for the designers without the manufacturing capabilities, he/she can submit their designs via internet to a server. The server would link all the manufacturing capabilities around the world and accomplish the 3 things: (1) Design Rule Check, (2) Cost (Price) estimation and (3) the Delivery Time, all done automatically. Once all 3 pass the designer's criterion, the product can be made via the connection of IoT. Industrie 4.0 is talking about many customized designs with small production volume.

[Background]

Industrie 4.0 starts with Germany, which is a great invention to all Europe. Starting from Millennium, Europe worries about the manufacturing capabilities move to Asia. It starts from the East-South Asia and gradually move to China. It was good at one hand because European can have products with lower price. It was danger at another hand because all advanced technologies were leaving Europe.

Thanks to the industrie 4.0, the capability of the advanced equipment industries can be output to all over the world. Moreover, the power of Europe design can be boosted by the help of global (customized) manufacturing by IoT.

[Manufacturing Asia’s response]

The manufacturing capability of Asia is excellent after world war II. Nowadays, the rising China even works as the world factory, because of the huge material, and energy storage, cheap labour (with good technical skills), excellent transportation facilities and supporting policies. We deduce the strategies of China regarding the Industrie 4.0 based on many facts, as 4 key points:

(1) China welcomes Industrie 4.0 because this can exhibit China's capability of manufacturing and transportation facilities,
(2) China is almost ready for Industrie 4.0 because China has worldwide the largest IoT (Alibaba, taobao, etc.) and the experience to manage it,
(3) For the automation production equipment (robots), China can make themselves or acquire the key companies (most of them are rather small), together with their know-hows. For the automation process designs, many well-trained engineers from Japan, Korea and Taiwan are applicable,
(4) The one that China is working on is the material technologies.

In the very short notice, China will be ready to launch Industrie 4.0 (Chinese version). Are you ready?

【Beyond the LED: what does LED technology bring to individuals and families】

ED technology is a new green technology. We can support green LED technology for bigger good, but, what is LED can offer for smaller good (ourselves)?

Once I heard from my colleague, she had been attended a Buddhism ceremony and she heard whispers from a couple behind her. The wife wanted to change to LED technology for their home lighting but the husband didn't. Hence the wife was trying to convince the husband by calculating the electric bills. At last, the husband said with impatient, "The time that you used to calculate the electric bill saves more than the LED does."

LED technology is a new green technology. A green technology is more than energy-saving, but also friendly to environment, which includes the manufacturing friendly (green) and recycling friendly (green). LED technology covers all these three, therefore we refer as a LED as a green technology.

Beyond the LED Technology, that we can profit from LED is the psychological effects. Basically, there are three aspects, including the quality of life, the efficiency of working and comfort of home. All of three are based on the digital control capability of the LED technology.
