本校於民國 67 年 1 月 25 日高雄市改制前奉令籌備 , 同年九月二十三日正式建校 , 校位於鼓山區九如四路與青海路交接處 , 學區範圍包括四個里 : 平和里 . 民強里 . 正德里 . 厚生里 . 校地東西走向 , 地形狹長 , 面積一七六二二平方公尺 , 西臨鼓山國中 , 依壽山而立。
