When I first glimpsed this enormous worm at a distance on the forest floor (whilst descending a mountain in the northern Philippines) I thought it might be a species of venomous snake. Named after its bizarre coloration, the Fried Eggs Worm (Archipheretima middletoni), is a non-burrowing species endemic to Luzon island.
