(Turning a Pilgrimage into a Classroom: International Students Join the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage)

🥁 在鑼鼓聲與人潮中，國際學生跟隨香燈腳前行，親身走入臺灣最具代表性的宗教盛事——大甲媽祖遶境。
(Amid crowds and the rhythmic sounds of gongs and drums, international students walked alongside devotees in one of Taiwan’s most iconic religious events—the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage.)

國立高雄大學語文中心帶領11位國際學生前往嘉義新港，把語言學習帶進真實文化場域，打造沉浸式學習體驗。
(The Language Center of National University of Kaohsiung led 11 international students to Xingang, Chiayi, bringing language learning into real cultural contexts and creating an immersive learning experience.)

🥟🧧 Making Dumplings Together to Welcome the Lunar New Year!

To celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, the Language Center of National University of Kaohsiung recently hosted a “Dumpling-Making Cultural Experience” for international students. The event invited students to explore Taiwan’s traditional festive culture by making dumplings—an iconic dish symbolizing reunion and good fortune. The warm and lively atmosphere created a memorable cultural experience for students studying in Taiwan.

🥟 The activity used a DIY dumpling cooking kit prepared with fresh local ingredients by Wu Mama’s Kitchen in Guomao Community, allowing students to safely and conveniently experience the entire dumpling-making process—from preparing the filling to wrapping and cooking the dumplings.

👩‍🍳 The instructor first demonstrated the steps, introducing the ingredients, explaining the filling ratios, and teaching wrapping techniques and cooking methods. Students then followed step by step, choosing their preferred flavors, mixing the fillings, wrapping dumplings by hand, and finally cooking their own creations.

🧧 In Chinese culture, dumplings carry rich symbolic meaning—especially during the Lunar New Year, when they represent reunion, prosperity, and sharing. Through this hands-on activity, international students were able to naturally practice Chinese while experiencing Taiwan’s festive traditions and cultural atmosphere.

🌏 Many participants shared that the experience was both fun and rewarding—from being unfamiliar with dumpling-making to enjoying dishes they made themselves. Some students even described the event as feeling like a warm pre–New Year family gathering rather than just a cooking activity.

✨ The Language Center of National University of Kaohsiung is committed to creating a learning environment that combines language learning and cultural experiences. By organizing life-oriented cultural activities, the center helps international students better understand Taiwanese culture while making Chinese learning more engaging and meaningful.
🥟🧧 一起包水餃，迎接新春！

為迎接春節到來，國立高雄大學語文中心日前舉辦「外籍生包水餃文化體驗活動」，邀請中心外籍學生走進臺灣的傳統節慶文化，親手製作象徵團圓與吉祥的水餃。活動氣氛溫馨熱絡，也為外籍生的在臺學習生活留下難忘的文化回憶。

🥟 本次活動使用果貿吳媽家提供的新鮮在地食材水餃DIY料理組，讓學生在安全且完善的準備下，完整體驗從拌餡、包製到烹煮的過程。活動由老師示範包水餃的步驟，從食材介紹、餡料比例說明，到包製技巧與烹煮方法，逐步帶領學生完成每一個環節。

👩‍🍳 外籍學生不僅學習如何包出飽滿漂亮的水餃，也親自挑選餡料口味、動手拌餡並包製，最後將自己的作品下鍋烹煮，品嚐親手完成的料理。過程中笑聲不斷，也讓大家在互動交流中自然使用中文。

🧧 語文中心表示，水餃在華人社會具有深厚的文化意涵，尤其在春節期間象徵團圓、吉祥與分享。透過這樣的文化體驗活動，讓外籍學生在生活情境中使用語言，也更深入感受臺灣的節慶氛圍與文化內涵。

🌏 多位學生分享，從一開始不熟悉水餃製作，到最後品嚐自己完成的料理，過程充滿成就感。有學生表示，這次活動就像參加一場春節前的溫暖家庭聚會，而不只是學習一道料理。

🌿🦋 Exploring Maolin: A Winter Encounter with the Purple Crow Butterflies

To deepen international students’ understanding of Taiwan’s natural environment and diverse cultures, the Language Center of National University of Kaohsiung organized a “Maolin Ecological Walking Tour” during the purple crow butterfly migration season. Students from different countries were guided into the Maolin National Scenic Area for a one-day experiential journey combining ecological exploration, indigenous village visits, and cultural activities.

🦋 During the trip, students visited the Butterfly Viewing Trail and the Maolin Purple Crow Butterfly Ecological Park, where they witnessed the spectacular sight of thousands of butterflies overwintering together. The breathtaking scene not only amazed the students but also helped them learn about the ecological characteristics of purple crow butterflies and the importance of habitat conservation, inspiring reflection on the relationship between human activities and nature.

⛰️ Walking through the valley landscapes, the group also explored the Longtou Mountain Recreation Area and the scenic “Little Great Wall Trail.” Through guided interpretation and on-site exploration, students experienced the unique terrain of Maolin and understood the interaction between natural landscapes and human-designed facilities.

🏡 The tour also included a visit to Duona Indigenous Village, where students learned about local culture and community life. They participated in a traditional aiyu jelly-making experience, gaining hands-on insight into Taiwan’s local food culture and everyday wisdom.

🌏 The Language Center noted that this activity integrated language learning, ecological education, and cultural experience, allowing international students to step outside the classroom and use language in real-life contexts while building a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s land and society. The center will continue to organize diverse cultural and ecological tours to create a richer and more globally connected learning environment.
🌿🦋 走進茂林，遇見紫斑蝶的冬日奇蹟

為深化外籍學生對臺灣自然環境與多元文化的理解，國立高雄大學語文中心於紫斑蝶遷徙季節舉辦「茂林生態環境走讀一日遊」，帶領來自不同國家的外籍學生走入茂林國家風景區，透過生態踏查、部落走讀與文化體驗，展開一場結合自然與文化的深度學習之旅。

🦋 在行程中，學生走訪賞蝶步道與茂林紫斑蝶生態公園，近距離欣賞紫斑蝶群聚越冬的壯觀景象。漫天飛舞的蝶群，不僅讓學生驚嘆連連，也讓大家認識紫斑蝶的生態特性與棲地保育的重要性，進一步思考人與自然共存的關係。

⛰️ 沿著山谷前行，學生走入龍頭山遊憩區，踏查具有地景特色的「小長城步道」，在行走之間感受茂林山林的壯麗景觀。透過實地走讀與導覽解說，讓生態學習不只是觀看，更是身體參與的體驗。

🏡 此外，活動也安排走訪多納部落，由走讀老師介紹部落文化與生活脈絡，並帶領大家體驗手做愛玉。學生透過親手製作，認識臺灣在地飲食文化與生活智慧，留下難忘的文化體驗。

🌏 語文中心表示，本次活動結合語言學習 × 生態教育 × 文化體驗，讓外籍學生走出教室，在真實場域中運用語言、理解文化，逐步建立對臺灣土地與社會的認識。未來也將持續規劃多元走讀活動，打造更具深度與國際視野的學習環境。
