Taiwan’s 2026 local elections are getting closer! 🗳️
On November 28
voters across Taiwan will head to the polls
to choose their local leaders and representatives 🇹🇼
This election will decide 11,051 local public officials
including city mayors
county magistrates
city and county councilors
township mayors
and village and neighborhood leaders.
Almost 19.7 million people are expected to be eligible to vote 👀
And the election is already entering its next stage.
Candidate registration ended on September 4
with 19,695 people officially registering to run.
That means the campaign season is officially heating up 🔥
There will also be a national referendum on the same day
so voters may have more than just local elections to think about.
For first-time voters
this could be an especially important moment ✨
Your vote may feel like just one ballot
but local government decisions can affect
schools
transportation
public spaces
and everyday life.
So before November 28
take some time to learn about the candidates
understand their policies
and make your own choice.
Democracy starts with participation. 🗳️
