As another wonderful school year comes to a close, we would like to thank all of our faculty and staff for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to our students throughout the year.

On Monday, we celebrated together with our annual year-end lunch, filled with great food, laughter, and an exciting lucky draw! 🎉 A special thank you to Valofresh, a valued parent-owned business in our school community, for preparing the delicious buffet and helping make this gathering even more memorable.

The Board was pleased to organize this event, the lucky draw prizes, movie tickets and restaurant vouchers as a way of expressing the school's appreciation for the hard work and dedication of all faculty and staff throughout the year. Wishing everyone a well-deserved, restful, and joyful summer break. Thank you for all that you do, and we look forward to another amazing year ahead! ☀️💙

🎭 Prometheus Reimagined: A Modern Tragedy

In an imaginative approach to studying literature through interpretation and performance, Dr. Garcia’s Grade 11 Literature III class brought "Prometheus Bound" into the modern world using the opposing perspectives of Prometheus and Zeus. With powerful arguments, strong performances, and a contemporary twist, students explored the timeless themes of power, responsibility, and the consequences of leadership. Two groups of students each gave fantastic performances that challenged both actors and audience alike. 👏✨




🎭《普羅米修斯》的現代詮釋：一場現代悲劇

在以詮釋與表演方式學習文學的創新課程中，Garcia 博士的 11 年級 Literature III 班級，透過普羅米修斯與宙斯兩種對立觀點，將《被縛的普羅米修斯》帶入現代世界。學生們以有力的論點、精彩的演出，以及富有當代特色的創意詮釋，深入探討權力、責任，以及領導所帶來後果等歷久彌新的主題。兩組學生都帶來了令人驚豔的演出，不僅挑戰了演員本身，也引發觀眾深刻思考。👏✨

🎉🎊🏅🎓🎓🎓HCAS Class of 2026 Graduates!!!

It was a magical night at HCAS as the senior class received their diplomas, moved their tassels, and demonstrated to the world that they are now high school graduates!

Parents watched proudly as their graduates marched down the red carpet to begin the ceremony, and what followed was an evening of laughter, tears, and celebration. Special awards were given for the Valedictorian and Salutatorian, for legacy students who have been with the school since its founding, for the student most embodying the 7Cs, for graduating as members of the National Honor Society, and for leading with pride as the HCAS male and female Lion winners!

From the welcome by the Student Council President Gordon to speeches from Salutatorian Catherine and Valedictorian Joseph, and a wonderful video of the whole class, it was clear that this was a moment for memories and nostalgia as much as for celebrating academic achievements. In addition, students were inspired by speeches from the college counselors, other school leadership, and especially the commencement speak Mr. Vaughan. Students took the time to recognize parents and teachers with grateful flowers, while also of note, Dr. Johnson Huang, founder of Ton Yen Hospital and the Korrnell Education Group, addressed and was photographed with the class as part of marking the school’s 10th anniversary.

Speaking of photographs, the evening was capped off by hugs, more laughs, and lots and lots of group photos and selfies with each other, family, friends and staff. All in all, it was a wonderful night and a beautiful send-off for this amazing class as they begin the next incredible chapter of their lives at top universities around the world!

🎉🎊🏅🎓🎓🎓 HCAS 2026 年畢業生畢業典禮圓滿落幕！！！

在 HCAS，這是一個充滿魔法與感動的夜晚，高三畢業生們在這一晚正式領取畢業證書、撥穗，向世界宣告他們已成為高中畢業生！

家長們滿懷驕傲地看著畢業生們踏上紅毯，為典禮揭開序幕；隨後的整個夜晚，充滿了歡笑、感動的淚水，以及滿滿的慶祝氣氛。典禮中特別頒發多項榮譽獎項，包括畢業生第一名代表（Valedictorian）、第二名代表（Salutatorian）、自創校以來便就讀於學校的傳承學生獎、最能展現 HCAS「7Cs」精神的學生獎、國家榮譽學會（National Honor Society）會員表揚，以及代表 HCAS 榮耀精神的男女獅子獎得主！

從學生會主席 Gordon 的歡迎致詞，到 Salutatorian Catherine 與 Valedictorian Joseph 的演講，再到全班精彩的畢業影片，都讓人深刻感受到，這不僅是一場慶祝學術成就的典禮，更是一個充滿回憶與不捨的珍貴時刻。此外，大學升學輔導老師、學校行政團隊，以及特別擔任畢業典禮演講嘉賓的 Vaughan 老師，也帶來了鼓舞人心的時刻。學生們更特別向家長與老師獻上感謝的花束，以表達真摯的謝意。值得一提的是，東元綜合醫院與康乃薾教育集團創辦人黃忠山博士（Dr. Johnson Huang）也於 HCAS 十週年之際蒞臨典禮致詞，並與畢業班學生合影留念。

說到合影，這個美好的夜晚最後在擁抱、歡笑，以及無數與同學、家人、朋友與教職員的團體照與自拍中畫下完美句點。總而言之，這是一個令人難忘的夜晚，也是一場溫馨而隆重的送別，祝福這群優秀的畢業生邁向人生下一段精彩旅程，前往世界各地頂尖大學展開全新的篇章！

🎉🎓Milestones Marked for HCAS Students!

Wednesday evening, May 27, was a celebration of key milestones in students’ lives, as well as a cuteness overload. HCAS hosted the annual Completion Ceremonies for students successfully matriculating from K3 to Grade 1, from Grade 5 to Middle School, and from Grade 8 to Upper School. It was a wonderful night for parents and students alike as these young people prepared for the next steps in their educational journeys.

5 月 27 日（星期三）晚間，新竹縣康乃薾美國學校舉辦了一場充滿歡樂與溫馨的慶祝活動，共同見證學生們人生中的重要里程碑，同時也讓現場洋溢著滿滿的可愛氛圍。HCAS 舉行了一年一度的結業典禮，慶祝成功完成 K3 升一年級、五年級升中學部，以及八年級升高中部的學生。對家長與學生而言，這都是一個充滿喜悅與意義的夜晚，孩子們也即將邁向他們教育旅程中的下一個重要階段。

📢🏅🎓HCAS Seniors Celebrate Their Achievements!

On Tuesday, May 26, HCAS’s senior class gathered together to celebrate their amazing academic achievements as they prepared for their impending graduation.

Students were recognized for a wide range of accomplishments, including taking large numbers of Advanced Placement (AP) classes, Honor Roll and High Honor Roll, National Honor Society membership, Student Council membership, and successful completion of their Mastery Projects.

Also very important, the students formally joined the Hsinchu County American School Alumni Association, expanding its network for their own support and for them to support future HCAS students. The event was followed by some great catered food as part of the week-long graduation celebrations!



📢🏅🎓 HCAS 高三學生慶祝卓越成就！

5月26日（星期二），HCAS 高三學生齊聚一堂，在即將畢業之際，共同慶祝他們優異的學術成就。

學生們因多方面的傑出表現而獲得表揚，包括修讀多門大學先修課程（Advanced Placement, AP）、獲得榮譽榜（Honor Roll）與最高榮譽榜（High Honor Roll）資格、加入國家榮譽學會（National Honor Society）、參與學生會（Student Council），以及成功完成其 Mastery Projects（專題精熟計畫）。

此外，學生們也正式加入新竹縣康乃薾美國學校校友會（Hsinchu County American School Alumni Association），進一步擴展校友網絡，不僅能為自己未來提供支持，也能回饋並支持未來的 HCAS 學生。活動最後還安排了精緻餐飲，作為為期一週畢業慶祝活動的一部分，讓大家共享歡樂時光！

On May 20, HCAS was pleased to thank its Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at our annual end of year lunch celebration! Hsinchu County American School is fortunate to have a very active and supportive PTA, with representatives from across the grade levels.

5月20日，HCAS 很高興舉辦一年一度的年末午餐聚會，向家長會（PTA）表達誠摯感謝！新竹縣康乃薾美國學校非常幸運擁有一個積極參與且全力支持學校的 PTA 團隊，成員涵蓋各個年級的家長代表。

The Board Chair, Vice Chair, and Principal expressed the school’s gratitude to our PTA members and Executive Committee for their selfless service attending monthly meetings with the administration and aiding in communications between parents and school leadership, as well as financial and personal support for school events and initiatives. The beer truck at the 10/10 BBQ was especially popular this year! 😀

董事長、副董事長與校長也在活動中代表學校，感謝 PTA 成員們長期無私的付出，包括每月與行政團隊召開會議、協助家長與學校之間的溝通，以及在各項校園活動與計畫中提供經費與人力支持。今年 10/10 BBQ 活動中的啤酒車更是大受歡迎！

In particular, HCAS would like to thank Dr. Jin Wang for his massive service and support throughout his two-year tenure as PTA President! The school is also happy to welcome former PTA Academic Affairs Officer James Lin as the new President for next year!

🧑‍🏫 HCAS Hosts International Training on Child Safeguarding! 🧡✨

On May 15-16, HCAS was proud to host its first international professional development workshop on keeping our children safe! As a member school, HCAS was invited by the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) to host the first in-person training session of it’s kind in Taiwan. Presenters Ms. Debbie Downes from the prestigious International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC, considered the international gold standard in child protection) and Mr. Dan Furness from the Council of International Schools (CIS) traveled to Zhubei to conduct this intensive two-day conference.

Eight HCAS leaders and staff were joined by counselors and teachers from all over Taiwan as well as schools in China, Hong Kong, and Korea in gaining valuable training and insights into identifying, managing, communicating, and especially preventing threats to child safety and well-being. Even our Board Chair and Vice Chair, Mr. Peter Huang and Ms. Vivien Lin, participated in learning about the role that school boards play in this critical area of responsibility. All of the participants learned a great deal, and all of our visitors were very positive about their experience at attending this training at HCAS. Indeed, many of those educators located in Taiwan spoke about the hope that HCAS, given its hospitality and convenient location, will host similar such training workshops in the future!

🧑‍🏫HCAS 主辦國際兒童保護專業培訓!🧡✨

5月15日至16日，HCAS 很榮幸舉辦了首次以「守護兒童安全」為主題的國際專業發展工作坊！作為 EARCOS（東亞國際學校協會）會員學校，HCAS 受邀成為台灣首次舉辦此類實體培訓課程的主辦學校。此次研習由兩位國際專家親自來到竹北授課，包括來自國際失蹤與受剝削兒童中心（International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, ICMEC，被視為國際兒童保護領域的黃金標準機構）的 Debbie Downes 女士，以及國際學校協會（Council of International Schools, CIS）的 Dan Furness 先生，共同進行為期兩天的密集培訓。

本次活動除了有 HCAS 八位行政主管與教職員參與外，也吸引了來自台灣各地，以及中國、香港與韓國等國際學校的輔導老師與教育工作者共同參加，深入學習如何辨識、處理、溝通，尤其是預防各類可能危害兒童安全與福祉的風險。就連董事會黃柏森董事長與林瑞玉副董事長，也親自參與課程，了解學校董事會在兒童保護工作中所扮演的重要角色。

所有參與者皆表示收穫豐富，而來訪的教育工作者也對此次在 HCAS 的培訓體驗給予高度肯定。特別是許多來自台灣的教育人士都提到，希望未來 HCAS 能憑藉其熱情接待與便利地點，持續舉辦更多類似的國際專業培訓活動！

The Stage Was Alive...With the Sound of Music! ✨
《真善美》把整個舞台都點亮了！✨

Last Friday night, HCAS hosted a door-busting presentation of The Sound of Music. This musical in particular is very well-known and fairly popular, but our amazing students didn't flinch. Instead, they locked in and pulled off one of the best shows HCAS has seen in years.

上週五晚上，HCAS 帶來了精彩的《真善美（The Sound of Music）》音樂劇演出！這部經典音樂劇廣受大家喜愛，但我們的學生完全沒有怯場，反而全力以赴，呈現出近年來 HCAS 最精彩的演出之一。

Due to the high standards and diligent work of the M.A.D.D. Department, especially the guidance of Ms. Afra, Mr. Serdar, and Ms. Fay, the show was a rousing success. Featuring moments of comedy, drama, and romance, Mr. George couldn't be prouder of the hard work our students put into the show.

這次演出能如此成功，要特別感謝 M.A.D.D. Department 團隊的高標準與用心投入，尤其是 Ms. Afra、Mr. Serdar 和 Ms. Fay 的指導。整場表演融合了歡笑、戲劇張力與溫馨感動，也讓 Mr. George 對學生們的努力與付出感到非常驕傲。

Speaking of hard work, a special mention should go to Mr. Gustavo Leppe for his essential skills in singing, and all of the HCAS staff for getting the show on its feet and running. If you didn't see the show this year, it was something special. However, this is just one of the first steps of our nascent theater program, and now we know where to set the bar for next year!
