The International Affairs Office of the College of Medicine in NCKU has organized the International Day & Lunar New Year Celebration on January 21 to invite international students and faculty members to join a lunch gathering. For international students, this gathering was more than just a meal, it was a warm gesture that made us feel welcomed and appreciated.

The event brought together international students from around the globe 🌍 in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to share conversations and experiences. Six AHS international students participated in this lunch gathering, making it a meaningful opportunity to connect with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds 🤝😊.

We were also happy to receive small gifts thoughtfully prepared by the faculty 🎁, which made the celebration even more special. We sincerely thanks the College of Medicine International Affairs Office for the kind invitation and warm arrangements ✨

🎓 Student Research Achievement | 千里馬計畫海外研究成果分享🎓

🔸Chia-Wei Lin🔸, a fourth-year PhD student in the Physical Therapy group (supervised by 🔷Prof. Cheng-Feng Lin🔷), was awarded the NSTC Program for 🔺Matching Outstanding Doctoral Students for Research Abroad🔻. From May 2025 to January 2026, she conducted a short-term research visit at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA 🇺🇸, to expand international academic exchange and deepen research collaboration. Below is an excerpt from her reflections- let’s take a look at her experience and insights.

On January 9th, 2026, Dr. 🔸Fei-Yang Huang🔸, a Wellcome Early-Career Research Fellow, Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford, shared a topic on 🔺Transcranial Focused Ultrasound Stimulation: Biological Mechanisms and Applications🔻. Yu-Shiue Chen, a year-one PhD student from the Geriatric research group, has summarized some key points and provided feedback regarding the talk.

Focused ultrasound non-invasively modulates deep brain regions, bridging basic neuroscience and clinical therapy.
聚焦式超音波可在非侵入的情況下調控深層腦區，並作為連結基礎神經科學與臨床治療的重要橋樑。

2️⃣ Importance of neurophysiology and methodology / 神經生理與方法學的重要性
The lecture discussed acoustic effects, skull properties, and sensory confounds, stressing that rigorous neurophysiological methods are crucial for research safety and validity.
演講深入探討聲學效應、顱骨特性與感官混淆因子，強調嚴謹的神經生理方法學是確保研究安全性與可信度的關鍵。

3️⃣Taiwan’s research advantages /臺灣的研究優勢
With integrated clinical systems, advanced neuroimaging and neurophysiological techniques, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration, Taiwan is well positioned to advance translational neurophysiology research.

物理治療組博二學生🔸吳佳展🔸（指導教授🔸黃英修🔸教授）於2025年9月發表了一篇題為 🔺Blood flow restriction modulates common drive to motor units and force precision: implications for neuromuscular coordination🔻的研究。感謝🌟健照所🌟對期刊發表的補助。我們摘錄了該期刊的摘要，一起來看看吧！

本研究探討血流阻斷 (BFR) 訓練對拇指–食指🖐🏻精細捏合任務的影響。1️⃣8️⃣名受試者在有無血流阻斷下進行任務，分析拇短屈肌 (FPB) 與第一背側骨間肌 (FDI) 之運動單元活動。結果顯示血流阻斷訓練會降低最大肌力，增加力量波動與放電變異性，提升肌內運動單元共同驅動卻減少肌間運動單元共同驅動，使得精細動作控制與協同肌肉的協調性受限。
