Chantal Braithwaite of Repsol,centre,is joined by the students of Holy Cross College, winners of the inaugural U.W.I- A.D.O.P.T Secondary Schools Competition.
Repsol Partnered with UWI to launch an agricultural based competition.The competition required students to come up with new and innovative ways of farming technology.Holy Cross College were amongst one out of fifty secondary schools in Trinidad to enter the competition.Holy Cross College submitted two projects where we were required to write a proposal for each project.Low and behold Holy Cross College came first and second place in the first rounds of the competition obtaining scores of 92% and 86%. We then went on to build our prototypes for the final phase of judging. Team Agriholics from Holy Cross College came First place over 20 schools in the finals and taking home special prizes such as THE BEST PROPOSAL,MOST INNOVATIVE PROJECT,MOST ENTHUSIASTIC SCHOOL. The second Team was Creative Growers who took home the third place trophy.The school was also presented with a Challengers Trophy to be defended in next years competition. Holy Cross College doesn't do agriculture but these boys mentored by Mr Hansley Nowbut place First and Third competing against the 20 other schools that actually offer Agri science.
