Oh Divine Lord on this Holy day of Sunday the day we worship Surya or the Sun as Ravivaar....you and the creation are one you are in every atom , every quark every string in string theory and in the string or raksha we wear after pooja that reminds us you are always with us and within us as that energy that gives us life . My lecture later at the Satya Drishti Mandir in Lower Barrackpore as the chief guest on Holika Dahan
1. The story of Holika dahan is the story of Prahalad the child devotee of Lord Vishnu ( God as being omnipresent ) who learnt about worshipping God while in the mother's womb ( which testifies to Hinduism being against abortion in most cases) where Holika the paternal aunt of Prahalad who was given a gift by God to wear a sacred orhni ( which testifies to the power and protection by God to wear the sacred orhini to cover up and be decent in your garments especially women). The orhni offered protection from fire but as she tried to burn her nephew the wind as Pawan ( Hanuman's father alluding to the protection of Hanuman) blew it off and she was burnt but Prahalad was safe as he wore the orhni of faith and devotion internally in her heart not just external faith by words .

2. The interpretation of Holika ( as this is Holika Dahaan dahan means to burn) means the burning away of our vices all our bad habits reflect on it , fast , pray and consciously make an effort to burn away your bad habits .
3. I want to focus on holika and her boon or gift from God Almighty Lord Vishnu..her gift of being fire resistant means she also resisted the urge to lose her temper as the fire could represent her anger that she kept under control and this my friends to have a calm temperament is a gift but when we lose our temper we hurt those we are supposed to love . Imagine her own nephew , a little child she tripped and lost her anger and what happened IT LED TO HER DESTRUCTION. So my friends control your anger , control your temper , Holika Dahan reminds us of the destructive nature of losing your temper and how anger can affect those we love first those we are sworn to protect.
4. Holika dahan also represents our health . How ?You may ask ? The fire can represent bad habits of eating that we not only have for ourselves but we teach our kids these bad habits in other words we take our kids into the " fire " of unhealthy eating habits , from small we teach them to eat lots of sweets, fats , flour , sugar and rice and some even give their children with copious amounts of soft drinks that destroy their focus on their school work and makes them prone to childhood obesity and depression by allowing them to be on tge phone and social media with unlimited use which is an addiction as toddlers are getting withdrawal symptoms! Some even give their alcohol to drink to " get rid of worms " but I have news folks eat paw paw seeds for worms or buy a zentel in the pharmacy! Stop the excuses stop being like holika and destroying your children knowingly or unknowingly.
