Maracas RC Primary Established 1930 as Maracas Government to Maracas R.C. in 1954 by Archbishop Finbar Ryan. Historical Background

Maracas R.C. Joseph, the nearest town.

School is located at Royal Road, Maracas. It is situated approximately six kilometers from St. Maracas R.C. first existed as Maracas Government School, which was located on grounds of the present Maracas Community Center. The building was constructed from wood and housed one hundred and forty children. During the 1930's the administration comprised of one teacher and the principal. The outstanding

students were used as monitors. Maracas was predominantly a Catholic community and the priest Father Henry and the members of the village and Church Councils wanted to improve the school and negotiated with the government to change the school's name from Maracas Government to Maracas R.C. As a result of the growing populace the location of the school was moved to the present site, where the foundation store was laid in 1954 by Archbishop Finbar Ryan.
