Dear FB friends - The very nice article about my upcoming presentation of "The Witness" omitted the date of said performance. Yup. That's right. Many folks came out last night and there was no show. It was, of course, an inadvertent omission. Just the same, I'm so sorry to those of you who made the trip. I'll be presenting "The Witness" this coming Saturday, Feb. 13, at DOS. Info - 904-687-8779

"The Witness" - Approximately two hours (with intermission) in length. It is the story of "Bo," a 69 year old former self-confessed racist, born and raised in St. Augustine, FL, who tells his story of the struggle for Civil Rights in America, particularly in St. Augustine. Nearly all historians concur that the bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama put the Civil Rights legislation in Congress. Many historians believe the events in St. Augustine (the beating of former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young, the incarceration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Monson Motor Lodge swimming pool incident), the incarceration of The Sixteen Rabbis moved the legislation in 1964, to President Lyndon Johnson's desk. "The Witness" is a love story (fiction) and a story about racism in America (non-fiction) and one racist's experience in the South. A power point presentation accompanies the drama.

I appreciate all the interest in "The Witness." Many have asked what it is about. The following is, at this point, from the program which shall accompany the presentation. We expect, at this time, to open in June, in three separate venues in SA, one each, Fri., Sat. and Sunday.
"The Witness" is the story of Beauregard Stuart Lee. The entire drama takes place in St. Augustine, Florida, on Election Day, November 6, 2012, in the Eclipse Recording Studio owned by Jim Stafford. Mr. Stafford has long been an advocate of Civil Rights and he has volunteered his studio for this recording.
M.J.Townes, a freelance writer and documentary film maker from Raleigh, North Carolina has come to St. Augustine to interview Beauregard Stuart Lee. He is a self-confessed former racist. Mr. Lee is one of five persons (the other four are from Washington D.C., Montgomery , Selma, and Birmingham, Alabama) being interviewed by Ms. Townes for her latest project. He was chosen as a result of his essay written in response to Ms. Townes’ search for “interesting viewpoints on the upcoming election.”
Date: Tuesday, Election Day; November 6, 2012
Place: Eclipse Recording Studio; St. Augustine, FL
Time: 3 pm
If you could share the previous item I'd be very grateful.
