Stephen's College is one of six government assisted Anglican secondary schools in Trinidad and Tobago. Stephen’s College was named after the Christian martyr Saint Stephen. At the College, a statue of Saint Stephen, imported by Canon Lyons, can be seen in the auditorium. Stephen’s College, like most outstanding educational institutions, had considerably humble beginnings. The earliest beginnings o

f St. Stephen’s College date back to eighty years ago. In 1943, the Reverend Herbert Bindley-Taylor started private classes in St. The venture was moved from the St. Clements Church Hall to the parish of St. Stephen’s in 1955 and was called Bishop’s High School. In 1958, the school was finally recognised by the Ministry of Education and in 1959 Mr. Dipchand Maharaj, became the Principal of what we know today as St. Stephen’s College. In subsequent years, Canon Hadyn Sobey (1965-1978) and Ms. Majorie Wooding (1983-1984) held the chief administrative post. Mr. Clifton De Coteau a former student and teacher of the College assumed the duties of Principal (1984-1995). In 1995, Ms. Yvonne Suite took over until her retirement in 2000 and was followed by Ms. Linda De Coteau (2002-2007), Ms. Millicent Ramcharan (2008-2010) and then Ms. Allison Noel-Sarjeant (2011-2021)

Mr. Andreé Bowen is the current Acting Principal.

MEET SHANTA MATHAI

Focused. Faith-filled. Determined.

Today, our CAPE Student Spotlight shines on Shanta Mathai, whose performance in the 2026 CAPE examinations is a testament to consistency, discipline and a clear sense of purpose.

Shanta distinguished herself across both Units I and II, earning a collection of Grade I and Grade II passes in Accounting, Economics, Management of Business, Communication Studies and Caribbean Studies.

CAPE STUDENT SPOTLIGHT | CLASS OF 2026

Excellence deserves to be celebrated! 💚💛

Over the coming days, we will be shining the spotlight on some of our outstanding CAPE students from the Class of 2026, young men and women whose results reflect years of hard work, discipline, determination and sacrifice.

But their stories are about far more than grades.

Behind every Grade I is a journey.

There were late nights, demanding assignments, packed schedules, setbacks, sacrifices and moments when giving up might have seemed easier.

Yet, they persevered.

Through our CAPE Student Spotlight Series, we invite you to meet some of the students behind the results, to learn about their journeys through St. Stephen’s College, the teachers and families who supported them, the lessons they learnt along the way and the exciting paths they are now preparing to pursue.

They have made us proud.

Now, it is time to tell their stories. ✨

Meet the Class of 2026.
Meet some of our CAPE standouts.
Meet our Saints.

🎉 8,000 FOLLOWERS! THANK YOU, SSC FAMILY! 🎉

8,000! 💚💛

To every student, parent, past student, teacher, member of staff, friend and supporter who follows, likes, shares, comments and celebrates with us, THANK YOU!

Every follow represents someone who has chosen to remain connected to St. Stephen’s College and to the stories, achievements, memories and people that make our school what it is.

We are incredibly grateful to have 8,000 of you here with us! 💚💛

But we can’t celebrate 8,000 followers without hearing from the people who helped to make SSC... SSC! 😂

So let’s go back to the OLE TIME DAYS! 👀

👇🏽Drop the name of a teacher from your days at St. Stephen’s College and tell us ONE thing you will NEVER forget about them.

Maybe it was something they always said. 😂
A nickname they gave you.
A lesson you still remember.
That LOOK that could silence an entire classroom. 👀
The teacher who believed in you when you needed it most. ❤️
Or the one whose class you knew you had better reach ON TIME! 😭

Current and former teachers are fair game!

And teachers, if you see your name in the comments, feel free to come and defend yourself! 😂😂

Let’s see how many generations of Saints we can bring together in one comment section.

8,000 followers. Decades of memories. ONE SSC family!

SAINTS, WHO DO YOU REMEMBER? 👇🏽
