BIG NEWS: The UN just made history.
On September 4, 2026, the UN General Assembly officially designated November 27 as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage — adopted by consensus among all 193 member states.
This matters because right now, an estimated 12 million girls are married before age 18 every year, and roughly 650 million women and girls alive today were married as children. This new day gives the world a fixed, annual moment to hold governments accountable to their promise under SDG target 5.3: ending child marriage by 2030.
The resolution was championed by Sierra Leone, driven by First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio and Bhuwan Ribhu of Just Rights for Children — turning over a decade of advocacy into a permanent line on the global calendar.

More than 600 young people gathered at UN Headquarters in New York to help shape the future of AI. 🤖🌍

On , participants discussed how artificial intelligence can support the while protecting rights, expanding opportunity and reducing inequalities.

A key outcome was a Youth-led Declaration on AI Policy and Governance, bringing young people’s priorities into future discussions on global AI governance.
