Our children are carrying more than we sometimes realise.
For our Form 1 students, it may be the adjustment to a new school, new faces, new routines and new expectations.
For our Form 3 students, there may be pressure to perform, choose the right subjects and build a future that makes themselves and their parents proud.
And for our Form 5 students, CSEC is right around the corner. The pressure to succeed can feel overwhelming at times.
But behind every grade, every exam and every expectation is a child who needs to know that they are valued beyond their results.
Let’s remind our children that it is okay to:
Talk. Ask for help. Take a break. Start again.
Parents, teachers, friends and families, let’s listen without judgement, check in even when they say they are okay, and create spaces where our children feel safe enough to say, “I’m struggling.”
One conversation can make a difference. One person who listens can make a difference.
Let’s keep showing our children that they are not alone.
Your life matters. Your future matters. You matter.
