# # **SUCCESS DOESN’T HAPPEN BY ACCIDENT. IT IS BUILT.**

At **I Am… Academy**, we believe the journey to success begins long before the big exams.

It begins in the early years — when a child is learning to communicate, explore, discover, build confidence and believe, “I can.”

And it continues throughout the primary years — through strong academic foundations, good habits, discipline, critical thinking, confidence and consistent support.

Recently, my daughter celebrated an incredible **CSEC achievement — 10 Grade Ones.** 🎉

While most people only see the results, I see the years of foundation, preparation, mindset and belief that came before them.

*That is why what we do at I Am… Academy matters to me personally.*

We are not simply preparing children to pass exams.

**We are building confident learners who understand that they are capable of more.**

*THE IDENTITY CEILING**
I have spent a lot of time talking and writing about the **Identity Ceiling**—that invisible limit we sometimes live beneath, not because we lack ability, intelligence, talent or potential, but because somewhere along the way, we accepted a belief about what was possible for us.
Sometimes that belief is our own.
And sometimes...
**someone else gives it to us.**
Years ago, someone told my daughter that **children who come from single-parent homes don't succeed.**
I never forgot those words.
Not because I intended to spend my life trying to prove someone wrong, but because I knew that words like that can become ceilings in the minds of young people if they are believed.
Well...

**WE PROVED THEM WRONG.**

My daughter just received **10 Grade Ones in CSEC.**

Mathematics.
Additional Mathematics.
English A.
English B.
Information Technology.
Visual Arts.
Spanish.
French.
Principles of Accounts.
Principles of Business.
**Ten subjects. Ten Grade Ones.**
But today, I am celebrating more than grades.
I am celebrating what happens when a young person refuses to allow someone else's perception of them to become their identity.
Because a ceiling is not always a measure of our ability.
**Sometimes, it is only a measure of what we have been taught to believe about ourselves.**
And when we break through that belief, we discover that the ceiling was never really the limit.
It was only the limit of our imagination.
My daughter didn't simply pass ten subjects.
**She smashed a ceiling.**
She showed what is possible when there is discipline, commitment, determination, focus and the willingness to believe in yourself—even when someone else has already decided what your future should look like.
And perhaps this is the part that makes me most proud as a mother:
She didn't have to become someone else's definition of success.
**She simply had to become more of who she already was.**
So today, I celebrate my daughter.
Not just because she achieved ten Grade Ones.
But because she reminded me of something I believe so deeply:

**You don't have to live beneath the ceiling someone else built for you.**
Sometimes...
**you were born to smash it.**
Congratulations, my girl. ❤️
**Mama is incredibly proud of you.**

And yes...
**today, Mama is going to brag. Just a little. 😂❤️🎓**

**🔥 THE 66% CEILING 🔥**
Why a single exam mark is quietly predicting your teenager’s entire future.** 🔥

Yesterday, I was chatting with my students about study habits when one boy dropped a bomb of honesty on me. He said: *"Miss, If I get 66 marks on an exam, that’s good enough for me. I’m comfortable with that."*

I didn't plan what happened next. I stopped the lesson, looked at the room, and the truth just poured out.
I told him: *"That choice was not made consciously. That number has absolutely nothing to do with how hard the subject is. It is an identity mirror."**

See, 66% isn't just an academic goal. It is a baseline reading of his current *subconscious thermostat*. It is the exact mathematical value he has quietly assigned to his own self worth and capability.
And here is the reality check that made the room go dead silent: **How you do anything is how you do everything.**
That 66% comfort zone isn't an isolated school habit. It is a blueprint. Once the subconscious mind accepts a "ceiling number" in one area, it creates a standard that ripples across every single quadrant of a person's life:

💼 **FINANCES:** They grow up and settle for the low-paying, "just enough to get by" job because a higher income feels outside their comfort zone.

❤️ **RELATIONSHIPS:** They settle for a lower standard of love and respect, accepting toxic treatment because a 66% effort from a partner feels normal, while 100% devotion feels terrifyingly unfamiliar.

🍏 **HEALTH:** They accept low energy and poor habits, fueling their body with cheap, low-quality inputs because a vibrant, high-frequency physical state doesn't match a low-worth identity.
The brain hates mismatch. If a student's internal setting is 66%, and they accidentally start tracking toward a 95%, their system will panic. They will subconsciously self-sabotage—procrastinate, lose focus, or make excuses—just to drag their reality back down to the ceiling they are comfortable with.

Our habits usually rise—or fall—to match the story we believe about ourselves.
As teachers ...We can teach better study skills.
We can use different method of solving problems.
We can give extra lessons.

But until a student begins to change the way they see themselves, they will often unconsciously return to the level that feels familiar.
They are experiencing the **Law of Resistance** because they are trying to force a 66% machine to produce 95% results.
To break the pattern, we have to teach students to stop fighting the old habits from the outside. We have to change the frequency from the inside. We have to practice **Resonance**.
Think of two identical tuning forks across a room. If you strike one, the other starts vibrating automatically because they share the same frequency. But if they don't match, nothing happens. You don't get what you *want* in this life; you get what you *match*.

Today, I expanded on this lesson with my students.
By the end, several were in tears.
Not because we were talking about exams.....but because we were talking about identity.
Many shared the labels they had carried for years.
"I'm not smart."
"I'll never be anything."
"My parents always said I wasn't good enough."

In that moment, the message I've been sharing years came alive in these young minds and they understood that the biggest obstacle to academic success isn't intelligence.

It's identity.

So here's my challenge to every teenager—and every parent reading this:

Don't just ask, "What grade do you want?"
Ask,

"Who do you believe you are?"

Because your identity sets your expectations.
Your expectations shape your habits.
Your habits create your results.
And your results reinforce your identity.
If we want to change a student's future, we must first help them rewrite the story they tell themselves.

Don't settle for a 66% identity when you were created with 100% potential.

Raise the thermostat, shatter the ceiling, and watch the world rise to meet your new standard. 👇

*TERM THEME: THE JOURNEY TO THE EMERALD CITY*

This term, our students will embark on a magical and meaningful learning experience inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. More than just a story, this theme represents a powerful journey of growth, self-discovery, and transformation.

At the heart of this journey is the understanding that every child already possesses the qualities they seek—intelligence, courage, love, and purpose. Through this theme, we aim to nurture not only academic excellence but also confidence, emotional awareness, and a strong sense of identity.

✨ *What This Theme Represents*

Each character in the story reflects a key area of development:

* The Scarecrow reminds us that we are capable thinkers.
* The Tin Man teaches empathy, kindness, and emotional awareness.
* The Cowardly Lion represents courage and self-confidence.
* Dorothy’s journey reflects purpose, belonging, and inner strength.

As students “travel” along the Yellow Brick Road, they will learn that success is not just about reaching a destination, but about who they become along the way.

*Our Goal*

By the end of this journey, we want every child to understand a powerful truth:

*Everything they need to succeed is already within them.*

Just like the characters in the story, our students will discover that their “brain,” “heart,” and “courage” were never missing—they simply needed to believe in themselves.

🎭 *Special Highlights This Term*

* Character Dress-Up Day
* Interactive Projects & Experiments
* Creative Performances
* “Emerald City” End-of-Term Celebration

Dear Parent,

The final term for the school year is approaching quickly.

And I want to ask you something honestly…

Is your child thriving or barely coping?

Not just attending lessons.
Not just completing work.
But actually understanding what they are doing?

Many students are now entering Standard 5 while still struggling with key Standard 3 and 4 concepts—especially in reading comprehension and mathematics.

This is not because they are incapable.

It is because there are gaps.

And when those gaps are not addressed, SEA becomes overwhelming—for both the child and the parent.

At I Am… Academy, we focus on closing those gaps.

We work with students who are:
• Struggling to understand what they read
• Finding math confusing or inconsistent
• Lacking confidence in their abilities
• Trying—but not progressing

We do not rush children through content.

We identify where they are, rebuild their foundation, and strengthen their understanding so they can approach SEA with clarity and confidence.

At this stage, time is important—but so is the right approach.

If your child needs support, now is the time to act.

Let’s work together to give your child the support they need before SEA.

Warm regards,
