Sometimes, the reality of online learning feels like you don't actually know the teacher behind the screen, so I thought I would re-introduce myself.
Hola/Coucou! ππ» My name is Jake Salloum and I'm currently a Spanish & French Tutor for Forms 1-5. I have been teaching Spanish & French at both Lower Secondary and CSEC Level for the past 3 years. This year, I'll be graduating with a BA in Spanish with French & Linguistics from the UWI, St Augustine. From 2019 - 2020, I taught as an English Language Assistant in France at both middle school and high school, and I recently completed a programme teaching English as a Second Language to Venezuelan migrants. Other schools I've taught at include Purple Pine Foundation and APEX Educational Institute.
My goal as a teacher is to make my classes as fun and as enjoyable as possible, so that my students won't feel as if they're going to school twice. Having been through the system, my goal is to create a unique classroom experience taking into consideration each student's individual learning style, strengths and weaknesses. I also believe in the importance of interaction when learning a foreign language, so my class sizes are always kept small or I commit to one-on-one tutoring. Having experience teaching kids, teens and adults has given me the competence to adapt to every situation and adjust my lessons to suit.
I hope with my help, every student would reach their language goals and fall in love with language just as much as I have. Undoubtedly, language and culture are inseparable, so I hope their appreciation for culture will also grow as we break down the language barriers in an increasingly globalized world.
