Good evening everyone. As we know, all schools have been suspended until April 20th.
This SARS-nCoV and it’s disease, the popularly known COVID-19, is wreaking havoc across the globe. As part of an effort to reduce movement of the virus and also diminish the risk of infection, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago has declared an upgrade to the, “Stay at Home,” by restricting the movement, by law, to everyone who isn’t essential personnel or if one is not engaged in activity that is not essential to the essential operations of the country, or, as stated in the ratified, “Public Health (2019 Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)(No.5) Regulations.”
A lot of people are asking questions about exactly who is, ‘Essential.’ Well, you’re in luck. 😊 Attached to this post is a link to the .pdf document in it’s entirety and signed by the Minister of Health, The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh.
The complete ordinance is 8 pages long. It comprehensively lists all persons or persons attached to a service who are reasonably justified to not be at home. Contravention of this regulation results in an offense that warrants a fine of TY$50,000.00 and 6 months imprisonment.
It is in everyone’s self interest to be familiar with this document which will be enforced from this midnight, on Sunday.
If you’re unable to view the PDF document on your device, please visit the page of the Ministry of Communications Trinidad and Tobago. You will have access to a wealth of information there, including videos and jpeg images that will be viewable everywhere.
Please, be safe. Be responsible. Obey the law.
