Cinco de Mayo at Marabella North Secondary
Our Form 2 Spanish students put their creativity on display with a vibrant collection of posters in recognition of Cinco de Mayo.
Cinco de Mayo marks the Battle of Puebla, which took place on May 5th, 1862. On that day, Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated the French army, even though the French were stronger and better equipped. The victory did not end the conflict, but it became an important symbol of bravery and unity for Mexico.
The students’ posters captured both the history of the day and the richness of Mexican culture, with beautiful artwork, facts, symbols, food, music and bright colours.
A lovely reminder that language learning is not only about words, but also about people, places, history and culture.
¡Viva México!
