DIELLA DANCE was birthed out of a passion to see excellence in the Church, especially in the area of worship. This dance movement, founded by Candice Clarke, came after many years of observing the way the Arts, and particularly dance, was being treated by the Church. The Bible is clear that God desires that His people worship him in the dance, as stated in Psalm 149 and 150. However, many churches
have shunned dance as a worldly expression and refuse to use it as part of their worship. If a dance ministry does exist, it is only used to fill a space on ‘special’ Sundays and not as a formal and welcomed part of worship, as is singing and playing of instruments. In speaking with many church leaders, it was concluded that a main reason that dance was shunned was that the dancers either lacked the necessary technique and choreographic skills to make the dance dynamic, or the dance steps were simply copied from our ungodly counterparts and put to Christian music with little thought or vision. DIELLA DANCE was birthed for change. Diella means Worshipper of God. It is who we are called to be. Dance is what we have been commanded to do by the One we worship. is more than a name, but also a command and declaration to the body of Christ to worship our God the only way he deserves – with excellence of gift and in spirit and truth. DIELLA DANCE comprises an academy and company that will disburse a generation of elite dancers who will change the stigma that has covered the ministry of dance in the Church, release a fresh wind that will get the Body dancing again and invite the Holy Spirit to move upon the nations to bring healing, salvation and deliverance.
