Our very own Kathryn Mc Connie H.B.M. from COSTAATTβs School of Workforce Enhancement and Development (SWED) had the opportunity to promote our tourism programmes at the Tour Operator Sensitisation Session, hosted by the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), in collaboration with the Wildlife Section of the Forestry Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries.
This very informative session featured presentations on:
β’ Safe, eco-friendly, and sustainable tourism
β’ An overview of key legislation
β’ Ethics and best practices
β’ Permitting and approvals for tour operators
Presentations were made by the Wildlife Section, the EMA, the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism, and Nature Seekers.
Some of the programmes promoted were
β’ Certificate in Tour Guiding
β’ Wilderness Training and HSSE for Hiking Tour Guides
β’ Site and Community-based Tour Guiding
β’ Diploma in Tourism and Destination Management
β’ AI & Technology β Current Trends in Tourism and Tour Guiding
This valuable session created strong linkages with the various stakeholders who work together to enhance the Trinidad and Tobago tourism industry.

School of Workforce Enhancement and Development Lecturer Kathryn McConnie facilitated a Customer Service Session, conducted through CANARI. This was done for the Mayaro/Nariva Community.
Members of the group included Nariva Swamp Tour guides, paragliding staff, roast fish vendors, Mango estate owners and guides, hydroponic farmers, plastic recycling personnel, and representatives from women's organizations, among others.
