Our last mobility took place in Trabzon, Türkiye between 29 May - 02 June 2023.
On Monday:
- Participants visited Çal Cave. The area around the Çal Cave has important attractions due to its natural and cultural resources. With these characteristics, ecotourism is one of the important areas of the city in terms of diversity.
- Historical heritage workshop: Akçaabat is a member of the Historical Towns Union and Houses of Ortamahalle is a very popular tourist destination. That's why a guided tour was done to "Houses of Ortamahalle". The participants learned about the history of Akçaabat. They also visited Orta Mahalle Museum.
- Participants were divided into three groups and had brief trainings on tennis, fencing and archery at Beşirli Multi-Purpose Sports Hall. They experienced different kinds of sports all together.
- Trabzonspor Stadium was visited and the importance of diversity in sport was discussed. The students were encouraged about creativity, unique perspectives, new opportunities and ultimately good sportsmanship.
On Tuesday:
-A guided tour was done to one of Türkiye's most famous landmarks Uzungöl which is known for its beauty and magical surroundings.
- On the way to Uzungöl, the participants attended the knife producing workshop which is unique for the district. They also tasted local herbal tea while listening to local instrument “kemençe” which has a big part in the city’s cultural heritage.
- They also visited İkiÇay Tea Factory and learned the process of tea production.
- Participants visited Dursun Ali İnan Museum. In the museum, which consists of three main sections, there are the wooden Uzungöl house built by adhering to the local architecture, the local archeological artifacts that Dursun Ali İnan has collected for thirty years and the sculptures and furniture made by Dursun Ali İnan from tree roots collected from nature. There are written and visual contents about the fauna, flora, social life and many more features of the city, its history, besides the culture and geography of Uzungöl.
On Wednesday:
-The day started with the visit of Hagia Sophia Mosque & Museum. Then, the participants went to Gülbahar Hatun Mosque and her tomb. They were informed about the city’s religious history and how impoartant was Trabzon with regards to historic figures.
-Afterwards, a walk was made to Ortahisar, the historical city center. Kalekapı, Zağanos Bridge and Valley, Muhibbi Literature Library, Kanuni House, Büyük Fatih Mosque, Trabzon History Museum and Küçük Ayvasıl Church were visited. After the city tour, the historical Kemeraltı coppersmiths' bazaar, Bedesten and Alacahan were also visited. An ACTIONBOUND game, full of excitement and exploration, was played by forming separate teams with participating teachers and students in the city center. Its digitally interactive scavenger hunts not only leaded them on a path of discovery, but also augmented the reality by enhancing their real-life interaction whilst using their smartphones and tablets. According to this game, the participants got to know the city better by completing various tasks by exploring many cultural, historical, artistic and sport-related locations of Trabzon with clues, maps and directions.
-Trabzon City Museum was visited by the participants. They had a guided tour of the museum. The students experienced animation, digital executives, kiosks, panels, specific habitats besides classical exhibition techniques.
-Trabzonspor Museum was also visited to enhance the theme of the week. The presantions were made by the host school’s students. The participants followed the history of sports and caught the importance of them for humankind for centuries.
- Towards the end of the day, The Panagia Theoskepastos Monastery (the Girls Monastery )was visited. A panoramic view of the city was seen from the hill by walking on the Boztepe Walking Road.
On Thursday :
- The participnats went to the Sumela Monastery in Maçka, which is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Tentative List. They were able to see the old building and its parts (library, pupil rooms, kitchen, chapel, holy spring...etc) and witnessed the history of religion. Fascinating with its history and scenery, Sümela Monastery bid farewell to its visitors with its famous fog and rain. Afterwards, the dishes unique to our geography were tasted at the restaurant at the ZİTAŞ facilities, located at the summit of Zigana Mountain.
On Friday:
- Hosted by 17 February Anatolian High School, the guests were welcomed at the school entrance by the headmaster and the District Director of National Education. After the welcoming session, the participants visited the painting exhibition prepared by Synergy Art Group accompanied by precious pieces played by the orchestra composed of students under the direction of Akçaabat Fine Arts Anatolian High School. After that, the History Corridor, Art Corridor and Literature Corridor were visited within the scope of the school museum visit.
- Akcaabat Municipality was visited and the participnats had a meeting with the mayor of Akçaabat. In the afternoon, traditional and international sports events (Matrak, Beirut Table, Kuyu, Alengir, Plinko, Wall game, Puket, Football Shot, Three Points) were organized by the Akçaabat Municipality Sports Affairs Director at the Akçaabat Yeni Mahalle Youth Center.
-The participants experienced a” Turkish fest”. As a part of the fest, a horon show was held with the contributions of Akçaabat Municipality Culture Directorate. Later on, the students of the guest countries and the students of host school exhibited various dance performances reflecting their own cultures together.
-Through Museum Walls To Digital World Project, which offers a unique experience in many ways such as transculturaion, the introduction of different aspects of the countries, education, sports, gastronomy, local handicrafts, architecture, belief features, etc, ended with a farewell dinner and presentation of certificates.
