The residency is open to animation artists from all backgrounds.

This summer, we are organizing four one-week Animation Residency programs in different locations where animators can come together, discover new places, and focus on their personal creative practice.

Program dates:

• June 8–15 — The Cartoon Mill, Kaş (Türkiye)
• July 24–31 — The Cartoon Mill, Cappadocia (Türkiye)
• August 15–21 — Svaneti, Georgia
• August 15–21 — Swiss Alps

Each residency lasts one week and offers participants a peaceful environment surrounded by nature, providing time and space to focus on their creative work.

The program is designed for adults who work in animation or would like to further develop their animation practice. Participants will have the opportunity to meet other people working in animation, exchange knowledge and experiences, build new collaborations, and work on individual or group projects.

We have come to the end of our Animation Residency program, where participants from the Netherlands, the United States, Tunisia, and Türkiye came together for one week to work on animation, discover new places, and connect with people creating in the field of animation. ✨

Last call for applications!

The instructors and speakers of the 8th The Cartoon Mill Festival will meet participants from 14 countries between July 3–5. The festival will focus on concerts, talks, and animation education.

8. The Cartoon Mill Festival eğitmenleri ve konuşmacıları, 3–5 Temmuz’da 14 ülkeden başvuran katılımcılarla bir araya gelecek. Festival; konser, söyleşi ve animasyon eğitimi üzerine gerçekleşecek.

Akdeniz kıyısındaki festival, katılımcıların birbiriyle tanışmasına, animasyon sektöründen insanlarla bağlantı kurmasına, arkadaşlıklar ve iş birlikleri geliştirmesine aracılık edecek.

8th The Cartoon Mill Festival will take place in Kaş on July 3–5 this year.
Animation artists, students, and academics from 14 different countries will come together for this inspiring gathering.

Prof. Dr. Nazik Çelik Yılmaz, Head of the Cartoon and Animation Department at Kütahya Dumlupınar University, will also be joining the festival this year.

Applications close next Sunday.

14 farklı ülkeden animasyon sanatçıları, öğrenciler ve akademisyenler bu değerli buluşmada bir araya gelecek.

Kütahya Dumlupınar Üniversitesi Çizgi Film ve Animasyon Bölüm Başkanı Prof. Dr. Nazik Çelik Yılmaz bu yıl da festivalde bizlerle olacak.

Biography

Dr. Murat Copcu is an Assistant Professor in Faculty of Communication, Cartoon and Animation Department at Bahcesehir University, Istanbul, Turkey. He received his doctoral degree in Digital Design at Kyungsung University Busan, South Korea. His research focuses visual communication and film aesthetics with particular interests in quality of moving images and experimental moving images. He teaches courses in Cinematography, Studio and Lighting for Animation and Pre-production.

Biyografi

Dr. Murat Çöpçü, Türkiye’nin İstanbul kentindeki Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi, Çizgi Film ve Animasyon Bölümü’nde yardımcı doçent olarak görev yapmaktadır. Doktora derecesini Güney Kore’nin Busan kentindeki Kyungsung Üniversitesi’nde Dijital Tasarım alanında almıştır. Araştırmaları görsel iletişim ve film estetiği üzerine odaklanmakta olup, özellikle hareketli görüntülerin kalitesi ve deneysel hareketli görüntülerle yakından ilgilenmektedir. Sinematografi, Animasyon için Stüdyo ve Işıklandırma ile Ön Prodüksiyon derslerini vermektedir.

Animasyon sanatının tarihini geçmişten günümüze görebileceğiniz “Animasyon Tarihi müzesi”, şubat ayından sonra The Cartoon Mill Kaş’ta ziyaret edilebilir olacaktır.

Mart ayına kadar The Cartoon Mill / Kaş yerleşkesi, yeni dönem etkinliklerine hazırlanmak amacıyla bakım sürecinde olacaktır.

Elinde çizgi film tarihine dair doküman, çizim veya oyuncak bulunan ve bunları müze ziyaretçileri için paylaşmak isteyen varsa, katkılarınızı memnuniyetle bekleriz.

The History of Animation Museum—where you can explore the evolution of animation from past to present—will be open for visits at The Cartoon Mill in Kaş starting from March.

Until the end of March, The Cartoon Mill Kaş will be temporarily closed for maintenance as we prepare for the upcoming season’s activities.

If you have any documents, drawings, or toys related to the history of animation and would like to share them with museum visitors, we would be delighted to receive your contributions.
