🇺🇸 This quote by Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK highlights the importance of the youth in building a prosperous future for the country. Atatürk recognizes the potential that each and every individual possesses, regardless of their age, and urges them to recognize their own worth and value. By doing so, they can work towards achieving their goals and contributing to the betterment of society.
Atatürk’s words serve as a reminder that the younger generation holds the key to the future, and they must take responsibility for shaping it. As Fener English teachers, we too believe in the power of young minds and helping them to develop confidence in their English speaking is one small, but valuable step toward realizing Atatürk’s vision for the nation’s children. Happy April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day! 🎉🎉🎉

Any language learner will know: Context is everything. Words and even phrases can mean more than one thing! 🤔 So it’s up to you to know the meanings and decide what yourself what the speaker is saying.
Let’s look at the phrasal verb, “Turn in”. Most students will know this phrase, as their teachers will often say, “OK! It’s time to turn in your homework!” 📚 Though you will also hear this in the office, too. “I need you to turn in your reports by the end of the day.” In both cases, you are submitting something!
This phrase can also mean to head to bed! 😴 By 10pm, it might be time to “turn in”, or get ready to go to sleep. (Sort of like you’re submitting yourself to your bedroom? 😂)

In English, we usually need to add a word like “a”, “an”, or “the” before a noun. This helps to show how many of that noun we are talking about, or to signify which one we mean. “Can you get me a piece of cake?” 🍰 “I need the book that’s on the table.” 📚
However, this won’t work with “noncount” or “uncountable” nouns. With words like “water”, “sand”, “salt”, and “money”, we rarely if ever use a number. Instead, we use words like “a little”, “some” or “a lot of”. 🤔 Think of it this way: These things are difficult or impossible to count, so we can’t use a number to discuss them!
We encourage you to take some time and learn about these “noncount” nouns. The more you use them in the right way, the more it will feel natural to do so! 👍
Follow us at Fener English for more noncount noun posts, and other language learning tips! 👏

We know it’s impossible to know what the future holds. But we all make educated guesses as to what we *think* will happen. 🧐
“Foresee” is a great way to express these predictions, especially in the workplace. 👩💻 “Does your team foresee any issues with this plan?” “The executives don’t foresee any layoffs in the near future.” In these cases, we are asking for or expressing our best guesses based on the information we have.
Try using this word in your own workplace, or even in your everyday life. 👍 And if you want more tips and fun English content, follow our Fener English team!
