I’d like to share the story of my late friend Munir Edais, may Allah have mercy on his soul.

On January 21, 2020 my Uncle (Khalo) called us here in Charlotte to let us know of his sons passing. I will never forget the heartbreaking sound of his cries.

Munir has two beautiful daughters from his previous marriage whom he adores. Amina, 8 and Elliana, only 5. It broke all of our hearts watching them cover his casket with flowers crying for their Baba.

The Daly City Police Department hastily ruled his death a su***de without a proper investigation and without any due diligence into the details of his death.

He loved life but most of all he loved his daughters and would have NEVER left them behind by committing su***de.

He had just gotten remarried 6 months before his death. He married a person he thought he would share the rest of his life with. He had plans to retire in a few years. He was proud of being a father and was always talking about how he will send his daughters to the best colleges. He lived everyday to ensure the happiness and safety of his friends and family and his community. He was looking forward to welcoming his unborn child to this world. Now that child will never know what an amazing father he was.

He served the Los Gatos police department for 10yrs and was a decorated policeman for 10 years. His colleagued all loved him. He was to be the recipient of an award for saving a mans life and was not here to receive his award because his life was cut short.

He knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face and his sense of humor would brighten any room he was in.

He had a great job, a family who loved him, daughters who looked up to him, and was the golden boy of our family.

He never used drugs or drank alcohol or did anything reckless. He was not depressed and he was not on any medication.

For those who don’t know him, by just looking at his pictures and videos you can see how much he loved his family and his life and it would be hard to believe that he would even consider leaving the world this way.

Hours before his death he had plans to go out with friends. Weeks before his death he was making plans with his siblings and father to go on a vacation.

He was an amazing son, brother, father, husband, uncle, friend and used to bend over backwards to lend a hand for anyone.

All we are searching for is answers and justice. We want to know the truth behind what happened that night that ended with Munir leaving this world too soon.


We want to do a proper investigation and deliver us the truth so that we can have some closure.

We have also shared some screenshots of recent conversations and captions from his social media that show how full of life he was and to show how difficult it is to accept that he took his own life in such a way.
