Rektörümüz Prof. Dr. Metin Sitti’nin liderliğinde düzenlenen Bilim Liderleri: Rektörlük Konferans Serisi’nin konuğu, Max Planck Psikodilbilim Enstitüsü Multimodal Language Department Direktörü Prof. Dr. Aslı Özyürek oldu.
Prof. Dr. Özyürek, “Body as Foundation for Language, Cognition and Interaction in Humans and Machines” başlıklı konuşmasında, dilin yalnızca söz ve metinden ibaret olmadığını; jestler, mimikler ve bakış gibi bedensel unsurların iletişim, biliş ve etkileşim üzerindeki belirleyici rolünü ele aldı. Bu çerçevede, söz konusu içgörülerin görsel dil modellerinden insansı robotlara ve sanal ajanlara uzanan akıllı sistemlerin gelişimine nasıl katkı sunduğunu paylaştı.

The latest edition of Leaders in Science: The Presidential Lecture Series, led by our President Prof. Dr. Metin Sitti, featured Prof. Dr. Aslı Özyürek, Director of the Multimodal Language Department at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics.
In her lecture titled “Body as Foundation for Language, Cognition and Interaction in Humans and Machines,” Prof. Özyürek explored how language extends beyond speech and text, highlighting the essential role of the body—through gesture, facial expression, and gaze—in shaping communication, cognition, and interaction. She also discussed how these insights inform the development of intelligent systems, from visual language models to humanoid robots and virtual agents.
