We’re excited to share that Özyeğin University’s Center for Energy, Environment and Economy (CEEE) has been selected as a Semi-Finalist for the Blueing the Black Sea Eco-Innovation Challenge with our project BLUE TWIN - A Cyber-Physical Hybrid Model: Integrating Digital Twins and Nature-Based Solutions for Water Waste Management in the Black Sea.

Chosen from 186 applications across 40 countries, BLUE TWIN aims to deliver a scalable, data-driven solution for climate-resilient coastal cities.

The Eco-Innovation Challenge is part of the GEF-funded Blueing the Black Sea Project, executed by UNOPS on behalf of the World Bank.

Özyeğin Üniversitesi Enerji, Çevre ve Ekonomi Merkezi (EÇEM) olarak, BLUE TWIN - Karadeniz’de Su ve Atık Su Yönetimi için Dijital İkizler ile Doğa Temelli Çözümleri Entegre Eden Siber-Fiziksel Hibrit Model projemizin, Blueing the Black Sea Eco-Innovation Challenge’da Yarı Finalist (Semi-Finalist) olarak seçildiği paylaşmaktan mutluluk duyuyoruz.

40 ülkeden yapılan 186 başvuru arasından seçilen BLUE TWIN, iklim dirençli kıyı şehirleri için ölçeklenebilir ve veri odaklı bir çözüm sunmayı hedefliyor.

Eco-Innovation Challenge, GEF tarafından finanse edilen Blueing the Black Sea Projesi’nin bir parçası olup, Dünya Bankası adına UNOPS tarafından yürütülmektedir.

LCET-2025 International Symposium Successfully Held in Istanbul!

The International Symposium on Low-Carbon Thermal Energy Science and Technology (LCET-2025) was successfully held in Istanbul on October 16–17, 2025.
The symposium brought together researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to exchange insights on low-carbon technologies and innovations that drive global decarbonization efforts.
As the co-chair of LCET-2025, the Center for Energy, Environment and Economy (CEEE) at Özyeğin University proudly contributed to fostering collaboration and advancing discussions on sustainable energy solutions.

LCET-2025 Uluslararası Sempozyumu İstanbul’da Başarıyla Gerçekleştirildi!

Low-Carbon Thermal Energy Science and Technology (LCET-2025) Uluslararası Sempozyumu, 16–17 Ekim 2025 tarihlerinde İstanbul’da başarıyla gerçekleştirildi.
Etkinlik kapsamında, düşük karbon teknolojileri ve küresel ölçekte karbon azaltımını destekleyen yenilikçi çözümler üzerine akademi, sanayi ve politika temsilcileri bir araya geldi.
LCET-2025’in eş başkanlığını yürüten Özyeğin Üniversitesi Enerji, Çevre ve Ekonomi Merkezi (EÇEM) olarak, sürdürülebilir enerji çözümleri ve iş birliği olanaklarının geliştirilmesine katkı sunmaktan büyük memnuniyet duyuyoruz.
Katkı ve destekleri için tüm katılımcılara, konuşmacılara ve paydaşlarımıza teşekkür ederiz.

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the LEGOFIT 6th Periodic Meeting held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Together with our project partners, we gathered to review our joint progress, align on project goals, and plan the next steps. During the meeting, the implementation of the LEGOFIT Platform across pilot sites was discussed, and CEEE’s Project Administrator, Gökçe Tomrukçu delivered a presentation on the Turkish Pilot, sharing key insights and outcomes from our local testing and validation activities of energy management systems in Dormitory 6 at Özyeğin University.

We also visited the Dutch pilot site in Nuenen and took part in both the Open Day and Roundtable Workshops with local stakeholders, ensuring that all pilots are well aligned for the year ahead.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our project coordinator, Demir Enerji for their excellent organization and guidance throughout the meeting, and to Heijmans for their warm hospitality.

This productive gathering once again strengthened our shared commitment to advancing innovative, sustainable, and user-centered solutions for the future of housing. 🏘️ 🌎 🌿

Geçtiğimiz hafta, Hollanda’nın Eindhoven kentinde düzenlenen LEGOFIT 6. Dönem Toplantısı’na katılma fırsatı bulduk.

Proje ortaklarımızla birlikte bir araya gelerek ortak ilerlememizi değerlendirdik, proje hedeflerimizi gözden geçirdik ve bir sonraki adımlarımızı planladık. Toplantı sırasında LEGOFIT Platformu’nun pilot sahalarda uygulanması üzerine tartışmalar yapılırken EÇEM Proje Sorumlusu Gökçe Tomrukçu, Özyeğin Üniversitesi Yurt 6’da yürütülen enerji yönetim sistemlerinin yerel test ve doğrulama faaliyetlerinden elde edilen önemli bulgular ve sonuçları paylaşarak Türkiye Pilotunu sundu.

Ayrıca Hollanda’daki Nuenen pilot sahasını ziyaret ettik ve yerel paydaşlarla birlikte düzenlenen Açık Gün ve Yuvarlak Masa Çalıştaylarına katıldık; böylece tüm pilotların gelecek yıl için uyum içinde ilerlemesini sağladık.

Proje koordinatörümüz Demir Enerji’ye toplantı boyunca gösterdikleri mükemmel organizasyon ve rehberlik için, ev sahipliği için ise Heijmans’a içten teşekkürlerimizi sunarız.

Bu verimli buluşma, konutların geleceğine yönelik yenilikçi, sürdürülebilir ve kullanıcı odaklı çözümler geliştirme konusundaki ortak bağlılığımızı bir kez daha güçlendirdi. 🏘️🌎🌿
