For my teacher friends!

You never know what ads will pop up while you're trying to watch an instructional video! 🤦‍♀️

This not only blocks ads but also makes the video full screen and automatically repeats when the video is done.

What other teacher tips do you have?

Just started reading “Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic—and What We Can Do About It.” I’m learning so much! 🤓

Real talk: As a person who grew up primarily in the working class and taught, coached, or otherwise connected with kids often in poorer circumstances, it was hard for me to sympathize with the complaints circulating this upper-to-middle class environment at the elite, private school where I work now. But I could still feel the pain my students were experiencing even if I couldn’t understand the how or why.
It was hard for me to reconcile that gap my first year here in Türkiye, but I slowly learned… And now I’m gonna learn even more. 💕

There was a time you couldn't even cut corners without accidentally learning something.

Copying from Wikipedia, borrowing a few cited lines — you still had to read it, follow it, understand enough to fake it. The shortcut still walked you through the material.

Now the shortcut skips the understanding entirely. The answer shows up before the thinking ever starts.

That matters more than it sounds, because the one thing nobody can outsource is understanding your own life — your money, your choices, the fine print no one reads for you.

Tools can hand you the answer. They still can't hand you the judgment.

What's something you only really understood because you were forced to work through it yourself?

On this day in Ray Bradbury’s “There Will Come Soft Rains,” the calendar reads August 4, 2026.

What once felt like the distant future has become today’s date. Can’t wait for students to think about THAT!! 🤯🤯🤯

Cappadocia was a cool side quest, but I’m very happy to be back in Istanbul. So far, I’ve taken Mom to Istiklal Street, had game night with friends, and visited Princes Island.
