Hey!π Have you ever heard someone say "break a leg" before a performance or presentation?
"Break a leg" is a common idiom in American English that is used to wish someone good luck, especially in the performing arts.
The origin of this expression is unclear, but some theories suggest that it's related to the idea of "breaking the line" of a bow or curtsy after a successful performance, or to the superstitious belief that wishing someone good luck directly can actually jinx them.
For example, if your friend is about to audition for a play, you might say "break a leg!" to wish them luck.

π¨ Common Mistake Alert! π¨
Did you know that a lot of people in American English misuse "less" and "fewer"? Let's talk about it! π
The mistake is using "less" when referring to a countable noun instead of "fewer". For example, saying "I have less pencils" instead of "I have fewer pencils".
"Less" should be used when referring to a non-countable noun, such as "I have less water". On the other hand, "fewer" should be used when referring to a countable noun, such as "I have fewer books".
So next time you're counting something, remember to use "fewer" instead of "less" if the noun is countable. ππ
