Her "Goodbye" dediğinizde aslında kısa bir dua ediyorsunuz. Bu kelime, eski İngilizcedeki "God be with ye" (Tanrı seninle olsun) cümlesinin zamanla kısalmış halidir. Tıpkı "Good day" kalıbına benzetilerek bugünkü haline evrilmiştir.

Every time you say "Goodbye", you are actually saying a short prayer. The word is a contraction of the Old English phrase "God be with ye". It evolved to its current form, influenced by phrases like "Good day".

Alfabenin eskiden 27 harften oluştuğunu biliyor muydunuz? 19. yüzyıla kadar "&" sembolü alfabenin son harfiydi. Okullarda alfabe "X, Y, Z and per se and" tekerlemesiyle bitirilirdi. "Ampersand" ismi bu tekerlemenin zamanla bozulmuş halidir.

Did you know that the alphabet used to consist of 27 letters? Until the 19th century, the symbol "&" was the last letter of the alphabet. In schools, the alphabet ended with the rhyme "X, Y, Z and per se and". The name "Ampersand" is a corruption of this phrase over time.

Maaşınızın isminin sofra tuzundan geldiğini biliyor musunuz? İngilizce "Salary" kelimesi, Latince "Salarium"dan (Tuz Parası) gelir. Romalı askerlere ödemenin bir kısmı değerli olduğu için tuzla yapılırdı. "Parasının hakkını vermek" (Worth one's salt) deyimi de buradan gelir.
