The current crosses are not the original crosses from the 1400s because they were destroyed several times over the centuries, most recently at the hands of the Soviets, in 1950. The ones we see now were carved in 1989 just after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Climbing the hill is a nature walk that can be tiring, especially when it rains.

Church as a sign of love: this is the Church of St. Anne, a symbol of a very romantic story. This is a gift that King Vytautas decided to present to his wife Anna. It was built in 1394, but the church underwent several changes in 1582 and again in 1900. With its flamboyant Gothic style - red brick, towers and recognizable façade - it is a tourist attraction of great interest.

The castle that seems to float on the surface of the lake tells a fascinating story: this homestead on the island of Trakai can be reached by a path that connects the area to the mainland. It was built in 1400 and was a strategic stronghold of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Currently, there is a museum here, where, among ceramics and traditional clothes, you can find out how the nobles of that period lived.

We will go up on the funicular to admire the remains of the Vilnius Castle, namely the Gediminas' Tower. Historians have found ancient references to the legendary castle, testifying to its significance in the history of the Baltic capital. The castle was built in the ninth century and has been the home of the Grand Duke of Lithuania since 1323, for many years being a key point in the defense of Vilnius. In 1400 it was almost completely destroyed by fire. The tower that you can admire now is just a reconstruction carried out in 1960 and turned into an archaeological museum.
