🔹 Introduction: Welcome to our Guidebook for Deaf Individuals! In this guide, you will find information about the characteristics of deaf individuals and educational practices tailored to their needs.

🔹 Characteristics of Deaf Individuals: What is hearing loss? This section provides an overview of the auditory system and classifies hearing loss based on different criteria.

Yesterday, 18 May 2023, INUK inštitut attended the GAAD Slovenia 2023 conference, which took place in the Ljubljana Technology Park and was organised as part of the activities for the Global Accessibility Awareness Day. At the conference, our precious Darja Kline presented, among other things, our MATH project!!

📣 MATH project partners met in Eskişehir, Türkiye for the final meeting on 8-9-10th of May.

We evaluated our intellectual outputs and updated lesson plans and the guidebook.

The multiplier event of the MATH project, coordinated by Eskişehir Provincial Directorare of Education, will take place on 11th & 12th of May 2023 in Eskişehir.

Teachers L.Lāce, G.Stankeviča, U.Strazdiņa, K.Zēmele and V.Ragēvičiusa participated in
Erasmus + project courses at the Turin Dinner Institute to familiarise themselves with
innovative teaching methods when working with children with hearing disabilities.
The course's lecturers presented the education system in Italy, educational offers
provided by the Turin Institute for deaf.
Under the guidance of the teacher, the pedagogies learned the language of international
signs. The institute's audiologopedist provided insight into language-adjustment work and
introduced methodical materials.
Dating to the history of the institute, it was possible to visit a museum and library that
stores very old books from the XV th century and the language dictionaries of different
national characters.

On March 3, we celebrated World Hearing Day at Valmiera Gaujas krasta Secondary
School - Development Centre. Our school's 10 th and 12 th pupils had prepared questions
for participants, engaged in a discussion on the importance of hearing, and taught
participants in the language of the “My Song” popular in Latvia.

To fully understand maths a child must use many literacy skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. For deaf children this can prove challenging.
