🔹High speed requires flawless safety! Last year, managing the five Lithium Polymer batteries that power our Hyperloop vehicle was one of the most critical tasks of our project.
🔹Why was this so important?
According to the competition rules, it was impossible to use our batteries without a Battery Management System (BMS).
🔹The BMS card we designed acts as our vehicle’s “PRIMARY SAFETY BARRIER,” monitoring the instantaneous voltage, current draw, and temperature of each cell in our five batteries every second.
🔹It also ensures all cells remain at an equal level through passive balancing, thus providing both maximum efficiency and the highest level of safety.
🔹The development and prototyping process for such a complex and vital card was a struggle in itself.
