" It’s sad that people haven’t realized how cruel they are towards nature but at the same time to their own selves.
As volunteers, our vision is to raise people’s awareness of how significant nature is and how necessary it is to take care of it because it reflects on our own health "

Title: Boys Don’t Cry
When & Where: Saturday 5 September - h.17:45 - S&G Office
Description:
"Masculinity is a hard, small cage, and we put boys inside this cage."
— Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
When we talk about “toxic masculinity”, we refer to indicate a stereotype of “being male” that is actually harmful to society, including men and boys themselves. For example, men who are more open emotionally, less inclined to violence, and do not posses certain skills or qualities are often labelled as less masculine and seen as “lesser” men. Toxic masculinity, in this sense is often linked with other social issues: misogyny, homophobia, gender violence, male on male violence, mental health and dysfunctional relationships.
What’s your view on toxic masculinity?
come and tell us!
See you there! 💕
- What makes masculinity “toxic”? Are there “good” masculine qualities?
- What is causing toxic masculinity? Who or what is influencing boys and men to act in certain ways?
- How is toxic masculinity seen in your culture? How has it impacted your life?
- What can we do to solve this problem?

Find out more about Burcu's volunteering experience, EVS with System and Generation Association in Craiova🇷🇴
Breathless time in Craiova
"I was there on Romania's Ziua Romaniei, the Romanian National Day. I experienced the excitement of the new year, everything there. I celebrated Christmas for the first time in my life. I had that excitement there. Our association set up a Christmas table for us and made us a surprise. We decorated the Christmas tree together. Then my friend, whom I love so much, that I got along so well, and who is now like my brother, gave a birthday surprise. (...) I met very valuable people. They added color to my life. I left a mark in Romania, it became my home in Craiova. I would like to thanks so much S&G and Tinerii 3D, who made me have wonderful moments that I will never forget."

S&G for Youth - 12 Webinars to bright our future
Title: Boys will be boys?
Topic: TOXIC MASCULINITY
When & Where: Tuesday 8 September - h.18:30 (Ankara timezone) – Virtually
System & Generation Association, as member and in collaboration with CEV- Centre for European Volunteering, is ready to implement the forth session a cycle of Virtual Webinars "S&G for Youth", carried out by the S&G international ESC volunteers, to promote active citizenship and to raise awareness on relevant social issues. The webinars will last for 1:15h.
For the forth session, we will discuss the topic of TOXIC MASCULINITY
Description: “Masculinity” is a set of attributers, behaviours and roles that are associated to boys and men. The expression “toxic masculinity” is used to indicate those attribute, behaviours and roles that are considered harmful for men themselves and for society as whole. It comes to mind, for example, when boys are considered less “masculine” when they express their emotions openly, or when misogynistic, homophobic and violent attitudes are seen as a “natural” part of being a male. While social scientists are still debating the exact limits of what “toxic masculinity” means in the context of patriarchal societies, the term has been associated with negative effects on the mental and physical health of individuals, dysfunction in relationships and public health issues.
- Where does toxic masculinity come from? What are its causes?
- What type of “toxic” masculine attitudes and behaviour do you encounter in your social context?
- What, do you think, is a non-toxic version of masculinity?
- In your opinion, what does society need to do to solve this issue?
If you interested in joining the Webinar, please send a message to Jacopo on Whatsapp (+39/3711182108) to receive the link to connect.

Title: “Life in the city”
When & Where: Wednesday 2 September - h.17:30 - S&G Office
Description:
“A city is a place where there is no need to wait for next week to get the answer to a question, to taste the food of any country, to find new voices to listen to and familiar ones to listen to again.” - Margaret Mead
Cities are great havens for knowledge, culture, and social life. In cities you can find vibrant cultures because it takes a large population to support museums, concert halls, sports teams, and night-life districts.
Cities also offer so many opportunities compared to rural areas, where people enjoy only limited social interactions because of the local population. In cities, there are more chance to make friends choosing from a large number of people with various interests and inclinations. What do you think about it? Do you agree?
• What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of living in a city?
• What do you love the most about the city you live in? What do you like the least?
• Would you prefer to live in a really old historical city, or a really modern city?
• What's your favourite city? Why?
• What are some differences between living in the city and living in the country?
• What do you think should be done to improve living conditions in cities?
• Is your city safe? How can we make our cities safer places to live? Do you walk alone at night?
• Do you know the Neighbors who live near you?
• If you had grown up in a different city, how would your life have been different?
• Do you think some cities are becoming too large? Why?
See you there! 💕
