Meet Zeynep — Our Full-Cycle YES Hub Participant!
Zeynep, a METU Foreign Language Education student, is one of the few participants who joined all three phases of the Erasmus+ YES Hub Project across Egypt, Greece, and Tunisia. Throughout the project, she represented METU with dedication, leadership, and great enthusiasm. 🌍✨
Here is Zeynep’s own reflection on her journey:
My 3-Country YES Hub Journey: From Participant to Mentor
My journey through the Erasmus+ YES Hub Project, coordinated by Solidarity Tracks, has been a truly transformative three-part adventure across Egypt, Greece, and Tunisia, all centered on social entrepreneurship.
🇪🇬 The Beginning — Hurghada, Egypt
This is where everything started. The first stage offered a deep introduction to the core concepts and global importance of social entrepreneurship, laying the foundation for everything that followed.
🇬🇷 The Second Chapter — Lefkas, Greece
As the Chairwoman of the Board at METU YES, I was proud to contribute actively. We focused on developing social business ideas and applying the business canvas model. Critical thinking, active listening, and partnership-building were key components of the training. Representing our university and country among participants from Egypt, France, Jordan, Tunisia, and Greece was a truly empowering experience.
🇹🇳 The Final Phase — Hammamet, Tunisia
With the experience I had gained, I stepped into a new role. During the hackathon, I served as a mentor, supporting my team throughout the idea development process. This transition from participant to mentor strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and understanding of social entrepreneurship on a deeper level.
Across all three countries, each stage brought new perspectives and helped me build a valuable international network. I sincerely thank Feyza Sevilmiş for giving me the opportunity not just to participate, but to inspire and support others along the way.
🌍✨ Grateful, enriched, and motivated for what comes next.”
We’re proud of Zeynep and grateful for her meaningful contribution!

Here is what she shared about her experience:
💬 “Through the program, we explored key concepts of social entrepreneurship, learning how to develop impactful business ideas and model them effectively. I also had the chance to serve as a mentor during a 24-hour hackathon, supporting teams in developing their ideas and business plans — an experience that strengthened both my teamwork and leadership skills.”
💬 “I’m sincerely grateful to Feyza Sevilmiş and everyone who made this experience possible. Overall, it was a truly enriching experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have met such inspiring people and to continue learning through international collaboration.”

New cultures, new ideas, new inspirations… Let’s discover together how İrem Yumak, a student of METU Foreign Language Education, experienced all of these in the YES Hub Erasmus+ project:
“Representing ODTÜ and the ODTÜ Genç Girişimciler Topluluğu, I had the privilege of joining another phase of the YESHub Project, under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the Field of Youth KA2 program —collecting unforgettable experiences and friendships, first in Greece, then in Tunisia.
In Lefkada, “the Caribbean of Greece,” I deepened my understanding of social entrepreneurship in a truly multicultural environment, learning alongside participants from six different countries. The bonds we built extended beyond the project itself —I made friends I still keep in touch with and will always remember fondly.
The final phase in Hammamet, Tunisia was where we put theory into practice —working closely with the local community and mentoring their social enterprise ideas in a hackathon. Seeing how concepts and models could transform into real solutions for people’s needs made everything feel tangible and impactful.
While our days were filled with intense project work, our nights were spent under the stars, sharing stories, laughing, and —quite literally— chasing goats around the campsite. It was during one of those nights that my birthday was celebrated, creating memories I’ll cherish for years to come.
A heartfelt thank you to Feyza Sevilmiş, whose guidance, energy, and unwavering support made this journey truly special. I’m deeply grateful for her inspiration and leadership throughout this experience.

This experience fostered creativity in developing social business ideas and crafting business canvases, which ignited a sense of entrepreneurial spirit.
