On May 6, 2026, the Université de Tunis El Manar - جامعة تونس المنار hosted an event celebrating scientific excellence, social impact, and the growing international visibility of its research activities.
During this special event, our group, BIND, was awarded First Prize in the U-INVENT 2025 competition, held under the theme “You Invent, Together We Impact.” 🥇🎉
This recognition highlights our innovative contribution and the impact-driven nature of our outcomes. Proud of how far we’ve come, and excited for what’s ahead.

I am pleased to announce that our paper, “AIR-LEISH: A dataset of Giemsa-stained microscopic images for the detection of Leishmania amastigotes using AI” (Scientific Data, 2026), has been highlighted by 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐒𝐤𝐲𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
This work aims to leverage AI and curated microscopic datasets to facilitate the detection of Leishmania amastigotes, with the broader goal of improving the accessibility and scalability of infectious disease diagnosis.
I would like to congratulate the team behind this collaboration: Emna Harigua, Rafeh Walha Rouahi, Nesrine Fekih-Romdhane, Donia Driss, Yosser Zina Abdelkrim and Ikram Guizani.

📷 Day 3 | Winter School on Artificial Intelligence – First Edition
We concluded the Winter School on Artificial Intelligence with a hands-on practical session on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), transfer learning, and fine-tuning, led by Mr. Mohamed Iheb Hergli and Ms. Donia Driss.
As this first edition comes to an end, we would like to thank all participants, speakers, and organizers for their engagement and valuable contributions, which made this event a success.

Highlights from Days 1 & 2 of the Winter School on Artificial Intelligence (First Edition).
Held at the Institut Pasteur de Tunis - معهد باستور تونس, this Winter School on Artificial Intelligence brought together researchers, students, and professionals around key AI topics.
The first two days focused on the foundations of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning, combining theoretical lectures delivered by Dr. Emna Harigua with hands-on practical sessions led by Ons Masmoudi and Nesrine Fekih Romdhane.
This event was organized by members of the BIND project, fostering learning and interdisciplinary collaboration.
